Check this site.I have been through an RSI. My site has quite a bit of information about RSIs, treatments.
Surgery should be the last resort. There are many alternatives, acupuncture, laser, cortisone, rest. Even if you have surgery, it may come back.
Patient: "Doctor, it hurts when I go like this."
Doctor: "So don't go like that." -

The bomb icon.Boy, that will add real multimedia effects to the bomb icon.

Real heavy duty ping of death.

We already have an income tax!We already have a federal income tax. This would be a federal sales tax! It's another way to pick our pockets!
How about cutting spending?
-
Don't believe it.They may pass a law today getting rid of internet taxes. This may be just a setup to allow for a federal sales tax on the next.

Wish I had this when working on MSI/TLC/MattelWhen I was at Microsystems Software (later bought by The Learning Company, now part of Mattel), I wish I had this piece. I was working on one of their products (with over 250,000 lines of crap, oops code). The code was so bad, in one place there was a comment saying that the author was sorry for this, but the CEO wanted it NOW, not right.

Linus and AlDidn't you know, Linus helped Al Gore invent the web?

Beats the other web booksAt least this book is not one of those, "Best places on the web" or "Web Yellow pages" type books that will be out of date by the time the book is printed.

Only blow the internet if you run Windows. If Microsoft had it's way and ran a windows toaster, putting bread into the toaster would blow the internet.
Well, once we all are over the Y2K crisis and the IPV4 crisis, then we have to timestamp crisis of 2036 to deal with. I'd better start working on my fallout shelter.

Missing the other story!!!What about the other story??
Wasn't he in charge of the software that is supposed to protect children from the internet?
I know of one company that markets an internet filter, that used to have a large x-rated section on their BBS/web-site. Shortly before the came out with the filter, they put the x-rated section on 4mm dat and sent it to another BBS/web-site.

3com and palm are known by different groupsPalmPilot is known by non-networking people without knowing about everything else that 3com does.
The Palm has brought the 3Com name into mainstream.
With Palm being away from 3Com, it might allow the Handspring people to move back into Palm.

Just another advantage to using a non-standard OS.When I worked at Microsystems Software, they developed an internet filter for Mac and Windows. They of course had employees load it on their systems.
Since I was running OS/2, I didn't have to load it, no OS/2 version.
If the MIS people could ever figure out Linux (fat chance), they might try to force you to load a monitoring programming.

Microsystems Software developped such a product. When I was working at Microsystems software (now part of Mattel), they developed a software sentry product. For a while, I would get a calls from the CEO to be asked "what is this program b.exe?", "what is this program, "l.cmd?".
This product was done by the same people who now publishes Cyber Patrol. I believe that some of the code from the sentry product is in the Cyber Patrol product.

OS/2 aint dead yet!In 1994 they have said that DOS was dead, but it aint dead yet.
Many large companies have a large investment in OS/2 and it will go on for a while. It is still my main OS.
The OS/2 consultant rates will go higher.
We will see!

$$ Makes being a nerd cool. When I was in high school, people made fun of me for being a nerd. My sister and my girlfriend's sister decided that we were the nerds in the family. Recently my sister was working doing software support on a Unix based package.
Now having Bill Gates worth BILLIONS of dollars makes being a nerd ok.
We are the ones laughing now!

Less privacy than biometrics!!Barcodes can be picked up at much greater distances than biometrics.
Soon there will be a black truck sitting outside a concert taking barcodes.

Just another step.I just went through LAX (Los Angeles Airport). They are not having everyone with a computer, remove the computer from their bag, have a person at a counter swab it (to sniff for bomb scents), and manually go through the entire bag that the computer is in.
I asked them what this is based on, their reply was that it was in the regulations. When I asked to see the regulations, they told me that they don't have to show it to me.
If I had a Pilot in my pocket, would they strip search me?

Anyone can publishThe net allows anyone to publish. It can even the playing field. One can get a message out for $20/month instead of paying large amounts for Radio/TV/newspaper advertising.
I have published my lawsuiton the web, much to the dismay of Mattel. They tried to silence me with a baseless countersuit, but they have not.
The net allows people with adverse opinions to the people with large amounts of money to be heard!

Linux stuff from M$? Beware!I would be suspicious of Microsoft distributing a version of Linux. MS has already made a non-portable version of Java.

Dead meat!I hope you had printed copies of their copy of your piece, with and without your name in it. Including the URL and the time/dates on the printout.
Your webpages are automatically copyrighted. No notice is needed anymore. You can put a notice "use us permitted as long as the piece remains intact, credits are given, etc.
You can explain to them that they will be sued unless.......
1. They put a ad on their home page to your site.
2. They pay you the normal author's fee for your article.
3. They they buy X more articles from you, that you write within the Y number of months. That way you get more traffic, and a job. After that, if they like your writing (or anyone else does) you have work as an author.

Is Al Gore at the Party?Since he invented the internet, will the VP be a VIP at the party?

Trade Mark OS???Maybe I should trademark OS and DOS?? I don't know of a an operating system named OS?
-
PIrates of Silicon ValleyThe article makes me think of the scene in the movie where Bill Gates tries to pick up this woman in the roller rink.
When he told her who he was, should have told her, I am Bill Gates, multi-millionaire, soon to be multi-billionaire. It might have worked.

Re:Tag code is wrong for linux...The {} are optional. What is incorrect is that it tests if nt == unstable. nt = unstable!
-
Tag code is wrong for linux...It should be:
Linux user: if (nt = unstable) switchTo.linux();

It's about time!!!It's about time they are trying to do something about spam!!!! Even if it's not working well, they are trying to do something
I have received my share of spam and am tired of it. When I try to track the scum (spammer) them down via whois, they have invalid contact information in their database.

If it works,it's not junk!!!!!!!!!I have two uses for my old pentium overdrive system.
- 1. To test software. If it runs fast on a slower system, then it would fly on a fast system. Too many people write sloppy code that runs slow needing a 500mhz cpu to be responsive!
- 2. As my linux box. It runs fine as a server, firewall, router, etc.

IP won't bypass filter.
CyberPatrol checks the ip. I didn't work on that code (worked on other products there), but I would have checked the IP first since it would have been quicker. Early on, they had found some porn sites that changed their IPs.

Re:CyberPatrol "issues"
I worked at the company that created cyberpatrol. I didn't notice them being funded by christian groups. From what I could tell, it was funded by the product that I worked on, CaLANdar. I do have an axe to grind with them, since they fired me for taking time to get medical treatment for a work related condition. That lawsuit is posted at http://www.sorehands.com/injury

CyberPatrol Lies?
According to the cyberpatrol website they have control to the page level, "This means that appropriate material at an Internet address need not be blocked simply because there is some restricted material elsewhere at the address."
I also have a document that has the VP. of HR from Microsystems (in 1997) stating that software engineers only use the keyboard 20% of the time and spend most of their time looking keyboard. So, I question their honesty at times.
So, it could be their documents are lies, or that there is a bug in the software, or the cybernot list was not set up correctly. They do have a website you may submit your pages to.
