You cannot go tape-dropping without casettes...
http://hellebore.aa.stodge.org/episode8.html This guy makes an art-form out of purposefully discarding casettes full of strange and alarming music; He calls what he does tape-dropping, and while technically the same thing can be done with CDs, he appreciates the rough-seedy aspect of casette-tapes.

I am a nigritude ultramarine mercenary.
I'm not a member of the silly SEO guild, but all my Nigritude Ultramarine can be yours! I have started an auction on eBay - anybody who seriously wants to win can pay me $1 (or whatever it comes to), and in return I will give them a few hundred links from my reasonably well-ranked sites.
You shall have my sword... I will fight for your honor!

Syncronising an iRiver H-Series with Linux
I just bought myself an iRiver iHP-140. I chose it because of OGG Vorbis support and complete lack of DRM. If you want, this machine can act like a regular USB hard disk. If you want to load some music, just copy files onto it.
I've put together some notes on getting the iRiver H-Series (iHp-140, 120 and 110) to work nicely wtith Linux. Please take a look here.

PortalI spend way more time than I should blowing things up playing RTS games but one of the most immersive experience I've ever had was a half-game, half-novel called Portal on the Amiga.
I see that it's now available online, but it's just not the same without the classy, understated graphics and ambient sound. That's why I couldn't get into the hardcopy version either.

Re:Reminds me of...
What it reminds me of even more is something I saw the other day when going through my bookmarked interactive fiction sites.
Portal was an interactive novel published in 1986 about an astronaut who returns to earth in the future after a 100-yr period of suspended animation.
There are no humans left, and the main character figures out what happens by logs in a computer network. Much of the interactive novel reads like a series of blog entries.
The site linked to above is a web version of the original novel. I'm not sure if I should link to it here, because the author posted a message on the main page that basically says "Please don't slashdot me!" I suppose it's probably okay, though, because it's not the main story, and I'm posting anonymously anyway.
The parallels between the blognovel and the 1986 interactive novel are very interesting in my mind.
