In other newsIn the UK, from today's news, it seems literally anyone can get access to security data. If you're a rapist or something, talk with a fake foreign accent and don't give your real name. You may even get employed by PM Gordon Brown and get the chance to try out parent's suggestions.
The Home Office has admitted illegal immigrants have been mistakenly cleared for jobs as security staff... The Home Office says the SIA [Security Industry Authority] did not check applicants were entitled to work in the UK before granting licences
... According to the Sunday Mirror, illegal immigrants are working at airports, ports and the Metropolitan Police - BBC -
Re:Publicity stunt?
Yeah, cause it worked so well for Paris?

They just arrested somone for this
More intresting than the Skype connection is the fact that the police arrested somone who gave an interview to the Sunday Mirror newspaper the day before.
See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/suffolk/6189409 .stm

Its quite chilling to read the interview -
Re:Was the Home Office spokesman an idiot?Today I read that they will now classify panty theifs as sex offenders, receiving the same long-term classification on the sex offenders' registry as child abusers, rapists, and child pornographers. Actually that's done with good reason. They are sex offenders and there is a high enough instance of such offenders going on to commit more serious offences to warrent classifying them as high risk. As such they shouldn't be allowed to hold jobs which give them unsupervised access to and influence over children. The sex offenders register is not about (and should never be about punishment). It's about protection. Keeps high risk individuals out of high risk occupations. It's the same as not wanting people with a criminal record in the police force. You want to be able to trust your policemen to be able to abide by the law, it's paramount. If you want to trust your children, the most precious thing you have, to someone then you don't want them to have ANY record.

Was the Home Office spokesman an idiot?
"It is hard to see why anyone would want to access the information on the chip." Hmmm... it's also hard to see why anyone would want my credit card information, SSN, address, etc. I'm sure nobody really wants to know any personal information about me at all, and I'm sure nobody would ever want to forge any of my identifying documentation.
Something is just wrong with the UK's Home Office. Today I read that they will now classify panty theifs as sex offenders, receiving the same long-term classification on the sex offenders' registry as child abusers, rapists, and child pornographers. -
Re:Befor you criticize...
I don't agree with the death penalty, but you're plainly a moron. From the Mirror:
PENALTIES imposed by Iran's religious mullahs include:
THEFT: Amputation of hands or feet for persistent offenders.
ADULTERY: Death by stoning.
UNMARRIED SEX: 100 lashes.
CONVERSION TO RELIGION OTHER THAN ISLAM: Death.
SODOMY: Death for adults, 74 lashes for consenting child.
LESBIANISM: 100 lashes, or on the fourth occasion death.
HOMOSEXUAL KISS: 60 lashes.
RUBBING ANOTHER MAN'S THIGHS OR BUTTOCKS: 99 lashes -- on 4th occasion, death.
Tell me if there's anything comparable to that in the U.S. justice system. -
Re:Audio Copy Protection
Not all humans hear the same range! I meant to reference the original article in my earlier post, but the link was slow in coming. As is commonly known in audiologist circles, we lose our sensitivity to high pitches as we age. What's ultrasonic to one human might be annoying as hell to another. The 15.625kHz whine of a TV set drives me nuts, but most folks over 30 can't hear it.
The usual 44100Hz sampling rate of most soundcards and recording devices limits them to a 22050Hz frequency. (Nyquist's limit.) Considering that most children can hear up to about 20KHz, and we're becoming music consumers at a younger and younger age, that doesn't leave much headroom for such a noise. Could it be done? Probably. Would I hear the difference? Likely. -
Re:News?
Funny that you leave out saudi-arabia, which is even worse - they regularly behead people for basically nothing (http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=1
5 032571&method=full&siteid=106694&headline=saudis-b ehead-2-drug-smugglers-name_page.html).
But I guess, since they are cooperating with fascist USA, they are the good guys. (Are you a hypocrite or just dumb?) -
Re:The US's Space Program
Lets first establish that Saddam was an evil fuck that didn't get nearly what he deserved. So that somehow makes what we are doing OK?
And your little line, "almost all of the deaths" are insurgents fault? BWAAHAHAHAHAH! Irregular forces with RPGs and homemade explosives are causing more deaths than a US military that is systematically bombing major Iraqi cities with F16s, artillery and Apaches. But I guess we already established that if you die at the hands of an Iraqi you're a victim of terrorism, and if you die from American napalm, you're liberated. -
Re:Republicans are lousy lays.
depends on your definition of a good lay
Even the Resident has referred to his wife as a lump in bed.
a pink haired girl wearing a cape, with a dildo collection
Little old lady Republicans are probably lousy lays too but if that is what you are into (and it is legal in your state).
Maybe that was a Catholic priest reference? Keeping track of Conservative perversions can be so difficult, what with all the dominatrix fetishes and girlieboyness. -
Re:Yeah, except for...
You mean stuff like *gasp* SPEAKING? Oh my god!
Sorry, I used the wrong link before. I meant to link to the actual interview with bin Laden's son.
He says "My father believes American spies have joined the Taliban He talks in a code that even I can't understand".
It's not that he's speaking, it's that he's (likely) conveying another message besides the obvious one.
