Re:My requirements before I buy a (H)DTVBecause the FCC, who represents the public interest, has decided that the switch to digital TV will be a better use for the public airwaves.
Well, the FCC and Zenith and RCA, who wanted to come up with a new system that they would hold the patents to, thus destroying the foreign competition (IE Sony). Great how all that worked out just as they planed.

Not the first useWhile the subject is interesting, the claim about "first movie ever to use a digital format supporting full-bandwidth RGB" isn't quite correct.
The Viper Filmstream camera has been used on at least two features prior to this and also uses Dual Link output to a RAID.

The design is of course not at nice as with ipod, but still quite nice compared to archos. The screen is by far better than the one on ipod and is larger than the one on archos. I would go for this gadget because of the big screen and the overall design. -
Oh my, another DTV standard!
Well we got excited about ATVEF, then MHEG, then MHP, somewhere in there OpenTV developed their own proprietary system, as did Liberate. And that's not even including the TV over ADSL guys...
iMagicTV, one of those TV over ADSL middleware providers uses HTML with 'tv in the browser' as does others like Minerva and Orca...
Don't forget about hardware vendors who are already shipping and this includes the big boys like Thomson/RCA
So why yet another dtv standard.. I'm getting dizzy... -
RCA? Interesting. RCA owns MP3.
[BMG owns] RCA Records
Strange. BMG, a major record label, owns RCA Records. Thomson Multimedia owns the rest of the RCA brand, and Thomson is also the exclusive USA sublicensor of the MP3 patents. Does that point toward a new method of fighting "Music Piracy 3" (the first two were player-pianos and tape decks)?
