Re:Who Cares
It looks like Tivo will finally offer a dual-tuner HD box next year.

RIGHT HEADLINE - WRONG CONCLUSION
I've researched this issue and the headline of the article is correct. TiVo is moving to bypass cable but not by throwing the whole system away and not allowing you to record cable BUT by integrating a cable card into a standalone TiVo box. This eliminates the need for a cable decoder. Their intent is to differentiate themselves further from the cheap knockoff PVRs that the cable companies are deploying. As an avid TiVo user myself I assure you that TiVo will not be dropping the capability to record cable programming.
Here is an article that better describes what TiVo is doing: http://olympics.reuters.com/audi/newsArticle.jhtml ?type=technologyNews&storyID=7252458/
More information and analysis will most likely be available at my source for TiVo information http://www.tivoblog.com/ tomorrow. -
A couple of weeks??
According to http://www.tivoblog.com/ this update could take several weeks to be deployed. Hopefully it doesn't take that long.

Re:I'll try it
I agree! Netflix & TiVo need to come up with a competative pricing structure. In fact, maybe the service won't cost you anything other then the $13/mo for TiVo & $22/mo for Netflix.

Re:Nice Feature, but..
Open source software is great however; I don't think my Dad will be installing MythTV or Freevo anytime soon. The nice thing about TiVo is that it just works. Anybody who is reasonably competent can setup TiVo and have it running in a matter of minutes.
On another note, TiVo needs to be aware of what the open source community is doing. They need to look into supporting or integrating open source work into their product.

How TiVo Can Change Your Life!
Hopefully this article is correct in saying that Strangeberry may prevent TiVo from dying. I can't imagine life without it

TiVo Suggestions
You can kind of do TiVo suggestion #6 already.
Check out my article over at http://www.tivoblog.com/index.php/archives/2004/07 /31/sharing-your-tivo-with-multiple-tvs
As far as suggestion #7 is concerned, I agree this is a much needed feature. Somebody that wants to add space to their TiVo shouldn't have to open up the box and install a new drive.
Nice set of suggestions...I hope TiVo is listening.
