    It looks like that evil robot Maximilian from that old Disney movie "The Black Hole". I'm kind of expecting it to whip out some helicoper blades and take out one of those photographers.

    Technically, yes. It traveled back with Spidey from the Secret Wars as his costume.

    Peter Parker later finds out that this "costume" is actually a symbiotic life form. After he rids himself of the costume, it glomms on to Eddie Brock to form Venom.

    Actually, this is not as far-fetched as you think. Bandai planned to introduce Superior Defender Gundam at 2003 toy fair. The toy line is supposed to include Musha, Knight, and Mobile (GGeneration) series, along with SD Gundam cartoon on Cartoon Network. You can read the press release here.

    Hmmm..this site, specifically the page about the head claims that "the design was inspired by Centurian armor, giving Robonaut some attitude."

    Still looks more like Boba Fett to me...
