Re:It goes both ways.
I found this turbolift answer on "The Trek BBS" http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=125056 I'd argue that one of the main advantages of the turbolift over today's elevators is a side product of this sideways capability, not the capability itself. Namely, a turbolift is an independently moving vehicle that can easily change lanes and sidestep other traffic. This easily increases the capacity of the shaft network tenfold at least over the "network" of a modern elevator where cars cannot sidestep or change lanes, but must wait behind each other or then have whole lanes dedicated to just one cab. Imagine what New York would look like if there could only ever be one taxi cab per lane.... The ability to sidestep, or to park on the curb, is probably why there's a horizontal stretch at Main Bridge level on the E-D ("Contagion"). The shaft to that compact topmost deck is vertical all right, but there's a horizontal staging area there as well, allowing a number of turbolifts to wait for passengers so that there never are delay at this important lift station.

ENT finale episode (spoilers)There's a big thread over at TrekBBS discussing the finale, with spoilers provided by a poster whom numerous people there consider a highly reliable source.
He hates it.
Spoilers coming up...

.
.
TNG's Riker and Troi are in 1/3 of the episode, on the Enterprise-D's (yes, D, the one that got wrecked in Generations more than a decade ago) holodeck watching some sort of 'historical record' of the NX-01's mission. Trip Tucker dies at the end of the story... well, series.
This is what Rick Berman has described as a "valentine" to the fans. Well, I didn't even get a card on Feb 14th, but that's still better than being fucked up the ass!

Re:Enterprise Doesn't Deserve to be Saved (SPOILER
Here is a link to a "spoiler" thread which this quote is taken from, and apparently the source is reputable.

Some more info...At this post at the TrekBBS forum one of the campaign organisers reveals that the donor is not Richard Branson (as was speculated by some) "but funny you should mention him", that two more Fortune 500 companies were interested and that the 'set' at paramount already knew the news before it was made public.
Later in the thread that the above post appears in it's explained that although the funds were not actually transferred to the campaign (can you imagine the Paypal fee on three million bucks?!), a contract was signed formalising the pledge, hence the reason for the delay in announcing the donation.

Enterprise is looking good
Enterprise is starting to look really good. I previously submitted a story - that was rejected
:-( - about the next half of Star Trek: Enterprise. Trektoday reported that it will feature some exciting plots involving "Andoria, a Klingon moon, Romulan outposts, Romulan Marauders, Orion Privateers, Earth's Moon, Mars, a Constitution-class Federation starship and more. You'll see a live Tholian... and a Gorn." according to the show runner Manny Coto. Leaked mild spoilers also indicate that the Constitution-class ship is the U.S.S. Defiant, which re-appears in the two-parter episode titled, In a Mirror, Darkly. There have been beautiful pictures of the reconstructed set just recently posted too. As a hardcore Trekkie, I find it fascinating. -
Why I like Farscape...
I do not feel very much like writing another small essay on Farscape, so I'll post something that I wrote for another thread, "What is the big deal about Farscape?" from the TrekBBS" (http://trekbbs.com/ubb/Forum11/HTML/003035.html) "Well, one of the things that keeps me glued to farscape is the fact that originality is not lacking. Every time I watch it, I try and look for the trademark scifi twists, and turns, and results, but they are not there! Farscape has, for three seasons, kept me amazed and wondering. Not only this, but the relationships between the characters feel so real that I can almost feel like I've been with them for the entire run. And few of them follow the stereotypical styles. They all have so many layers to them, and that is what makes them special. As for the muppets: They are wonderful, and again, make it unique. I always hear people complaining about trek's lack of "Realistic" aliens, with more than a simple bit of makeup. Well, this is how they solved the problem. The muppets do a perfect job with this, by giving you realistic and original aliens, and the scripts give you aliens who you can love or hate with passion. In a related matter, the costume and set design are (or should be) award winning. They generate a very deep, involving atmosphere that pulls you in and makes you watch in awe. The costumes are so amazingly detailed and original that you often see things you would have never expected. The music is another element of the show that really is quite good. While the show does use a lot of stock music, SubVision also composes more for certain episodes where necessary, generating a great, unique feel. There still is one problem that exists, though: The Arc makes it hard for casual viewers to follow. But don't fret! The farscape cast and crew put together yet another little "utility" that will help many. "Farscape: Undressed" This was a one hour special giving an overview of what happened throughout the first two seasons. It was VERY helpful to many I know who wanted to learn more, but didn't have the tapes. The show gave you a run down of all of the characters, their relationships, and their major encounters and developments, which really helped out quite a bit. Even to the hardcore viewer, it helped remember a few bits which may have faded out. This is why I, Sanfam, Like farscape.

Re:I Seriously Doubt This...I agree. First of all, this sounds a bit too much like yet another TOS, right down to the characters.
I really have my doubts whether this information is genuine. Many people at the TrekBSS forum seem to agree - or I agree with them, if you prefer.
