I don't think it's actually in use yet. It's still being set up.

Of all the things to fix...
I'd have thought the horrible global function namespace would have been a top priority.
Seriously, what is this, C?

I know I can't figure out my AT&T bill, no matter how I try. I imagine Apple has imitated that art.

Re:Already There
Actually, seat belts do kill people, albeit rarely. My Dad is alive thanks to one of the few occasions he didn't buckle up. He was ejected through the windshield, and the car was crushed. The inspectors at the scene told him his chances of surviving had he been wearing a belt were almost non-existent.
As for the claim that firearms are more likely to kill you or your family, that's because firearms are a leading suicide method. When you remove suicide from the rate and control for the fact that a huge percentage of firearms are held by collectors, the US homicide-by-firearm rate starts to look quite similar to the rest of the OECD countries. The graph below doesn't actually control for ownership of more than one firearm per person (since that data is pretty sparse, for good reason), so the US rate (far right on graph) is probably quite a bit lower than shown. The data used to make the graph came from Wikipedia so it's by no means rigorous, but it's also not likely to be so far off as to be useless.

Re:By mobile broadband they mean....No offense, but I have to call BS on this:
These towers typically only have a T1 backhaul.
Since T1s are a little bit over 1.5 mbps symmetrical, (1.54 mbps IIRC) this result: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BZJiaGpCcAAonC9.png:large seems to disagree with your statement. If I understand Verizon's network setup correctly, I'd guess that they're using at least something like a OC-3c.
Now, if you'll excuse me for a second, a bit of a related rant.
The only problems with my experience with mobile internet are that:
a) Verizon's LTE network is nowhere near as fast as that result in some places where I regularly use my phone.
and
b) By my calculations. I could blow through my 2 GB data allowance in under 36 minutes just by maxing out my down speed. -

I hope they do science with it too
I hope they are able to do some cool science with it too. It'd be great if they could teach it to autonomously do zero angular-momentum maneuvers, IE reorientate itself the same way a cat does. Or see if they can get it to do
zero gravity jump "walking." Think Ender's Game. The former should be easy to accomplish with what they are up-porting, while the latter could probably be done if they send up a motion capture set up.
At the very least, it should help cancel out the creepiness of Robonaut's new slenderman space legs. Robonaut is going to be 'walking' around the space station SOON.

Re:Afghanistan may not be all that bad.
Says the guy who got his "experience" out of the "CIA World 'Fact'book", of all things.
Versus people who actually lived there.
Here, this is the spirit of Afghanistan, without you Americans, without the Soviets, and without the Taliban (a US creation, by the way):
Afghanistan in the 70s
My dad can still remember the extremely short skirts, the debate and chess clubs, the modern university, the successful sports clubs and the country-wide irrigation channel system that made the whole place green and beautiful. It was a great and modern place. (And so was Iran, before the US and the Soviets also fucked it up until it got schizophrenic aka religious.)That is the Afghani dream, that they want to come back.

Not quite true about iOS...
Would just like to point out iOS does in fact give user control over Privacy:

The same pop-up occurs when an application wants to access your photo's, location, etc.
And you can also set up Provacy controls for apps in Settings:

Re:It did not help
I think there may be a bit of a problem with the electronic counting system that they've been using (these are the stats for Rostov - add up the percentages...).
On the other hand, everything's as planned in Chechnya.

Re:What alternative?
If someone can point me to competing service that is accepted at my preferred retailers
Could you please list your preferred retailers.
But these guys were begging to be tracked down.
So are you David.

Typical cell phone shot
This is par for the course for colour, lighting, overall quality. Do you think she cares that her colour balance is screwed? (And it's already screwed, even before she starts to wonder if her display calibration has drifted in the 3 weeks since she bought the phone.)

VERY slow response
Obviously the police didn't take the threat seriously at all:
A week after posting the message on the social networking site, he was arrested
If it takes the police to find Paul J Chambers when there a PICTURE of him on his Twitter profile AND it tells you he's from Doncaster, England.
Now, I'm not the police, but I think that if I had access to a phone book of Doncaster, I could probably find the guy in a few hours. Given that he's 90% likely to have a drivers license, it's not like it'd make it any more difficult to find him.
Geez!
