Re: Dirty bombWhere do you draw me talking about the invasion from that comment? I thought the whole world knew about the unanimous vote by the UNSC. Apparently some ppl were living under a rock so I'll do the google for you.
Here. President Bush has welcomed the unanimous vote by the United Nations Security Council November 8 to force the disarmament of Iraq.
"The world has now come together to say that the outlaw regime in Iraq will not be permitted to build or possess chemical, biological or nuclear weapons," Bush, flanked by Secretary of State Colin Powell and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, said in a statement at the White House shortly after the vote took place.
"Iraq must now, without delay or negotiation, fully disarm," Bush said, promising that Iraq will face "the severest consequences" if the Saddam Hussein regime does not comply with the latest Security Council demands.
"The resolution approved today presents the Iraqi regime with a test -- a final test," Bush said. "Iraq must now, without delay or negotiations, fully disarm, welcome full inspections, and fundamentally change the approach it has taken for more than a decade.
FYI he didn't comply.

Re:Just because the Brits object, it's not wrong!
When people elect people who elect people, democracy is not the correct term.
I would tend to agree.
Just so you know, using your definition, the recent Iraq elections weren't democratic either. All the "people" did on Sunday was to elect an assembly, who in turn appoint a council, who eventually appoint a prime minister, who will probably be Allawi.
Behold! Democracy! -
Am I really a sick, sick man?I must confess I just jerked off to pictures of Condi.
She's such a smart, beautiful and determined african american woman.
She could ravage my cracker ass with a strap-on dildo any time.

Re:It can't be said enough...I do think that mindless idiots should have the right to vote. But why encourage it?
Because maybe voting will lead at least one mindless idiot to get more involved in the democratic process.
Whatever the outcome of the election, George W. is still president until January--maybe enough time for him to become a leader instead of a "follower of American politics."

Re:There's no libel here
Look, do you not REMEMBER that Bush asked the UN for a resolution authorizing the invasion of Iraq? It's baffling* how people can support Bush, yet refuse to even listen to his own words.
Here's one lie: "The Iraqi regime has acquired and tested the means to deliver weapons of mass destruction"
Here's another: "We also know that Iraq is harboring a terrorist network, headed by a senior al Qaeda terrorist planner."
That's how GWB made his case for war. Bush didn't focus on the minutiae of UN resolutions- he made a bigger, bolder case. So when I choose to judge him by the position he took, you can't fall back on a little detail which by itself would never have justified the expensive occupation.
Was the USA "justified" invading Iraq?
From the legal standpoint, sure- they'd been at war for 12 straight years, that's just an escalation.
From the perspective of it being the right away to achieve the country's short or long term goals- absolutely not.
made the UN word strong by enforcing resolutions that had been on the books for 13 years.
I love that! Made their word strong by going against their specific directions! "Vigilantism" is the most generous way to describe it.
* Not really baffling. I have enough psychological training to understand the tribal thought processes leading to those actions- I just don't like them. -
Re:Outsourcing/immigration WTF?
OK here's an example: The Steel Industry Link That took about a second on Google. I understand your HS education and job at DonMacls, has you all fired up against "the man", but really, at least try to use your brain. As far as people starving it's not my responcibity to provide the teat to feed the poor, nor is it the USA's. Once life is good here for the poor that WE have, lets extend some help to others sure. But that's beyond the scope of the argument. The issue is competing on a level playing field. Your statement on pollution was inane at best. If you want to argue, come up with something intelligent.

Re:How does this help?
The people who were behiond 9/11 weren't known terrorists/criminals. They were quiet people, under the radar....
Ah, but they were foreign nationals. And the gov't is now requiring biometric data to be collected from all foreign nationals entering the country. Which I'll grant you wouldn't have solved the 9/11 problem, although similar data did help catch the Washington snipers.
For the record, I have mixed feelings about the gov't keeping biometric data on anyone but it has helped in the past and may in the future as well. -
