Re:Embedded video crap
If you are Firefoxing, check out the Greasemonkey script Embedded Media Linker. Might muck up some "precise" websites, but it's a ton more convenient than the "view source" method.

Slashdot wubs Gamespy
Is this a legitimate
/. article or a shill? Gamespy comes up with a list of ten of the "most influential and eye-catching" Oblivion mods, despite the fact that there are hundreds (513, in fact) of mods listed here, not all of which are hosted on Planet Elder Scrolls.
Note that Gamespy only included mods hosted on their website, and that Gamespy is notorious for running interstitial ads that require a Greasemonkey script to bypass. Besides, this wasn't submitted by a Slashdot reader - Zonk posted it himself. The linked article had nothing more than some guy's opinion on what mods were good, so if Zonk is such an Oblivion fan, why not just link us to his favorite mods right there in the Slashdot article, rather than shilling for the ad-ridden IGN network? -
Re:in other news
While MySpace is the new GeoCities, userscripts.org has a wide variety of Greasemonkey hacks that lessen the amount of throwing up in your mouth you do when you visit the site.

Re:Missing features wishlist - todo list
I took a first stab at adding a todo list to the sidebar of the Calendar page. It still needs quite a bit of work, right now it stores three entries locally; but it's a skeleton for me or someone else to make it store todo entries in a Calendar entry, in S3, your own server, etc etc:

Re:Does it have a to do list?
I've taken a first stab at a greasemonkey script that adds a to-do list on the sidebar: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/3827

Yep, and this is the most useful script for it: QuickGallery.

Re:Contribution made to OpenSSH or OpenBSD?
Tada! A Greasemonkey script to add the BSD section to the content list.

It's good
I actually started using this a few days before this story broke. I like being able to customize which theme is used by default. (I use the linux one because I think black just looks better than teal.) I used to use some Greasemonkey scripts to enable just about the same functionality that this extension does but the thing that I think is really missing from Greasemonkey is an auto script updater. One has been made http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/2296 but I'm sure that this works with very few scripts as of now.

Re:Yay!.. Taco did you see that?
There are greasemonkey scripts to allow collapsing threads. And scripts to collapse stories and remove sidebars and figure out how much time you waste on
/. and add mirrors and whatever else you want on slashdot.
I'd give them a look before I demanded the slashcode writers add features you want (or write the code yourself and submit it to slashcode), unlike other news sites this is an OSS project. -

Re:YAY!
Ah. Just checked the Greasemonkey link provided by Assassinator42, and it explains what's going on:
This script is not a Google's video hack, it just gets the official download link that is provided for Mac users (but not accesible for windows users).
Go Steve! -

I use Greasemonkey and the download link script.

Re:Transcript of recent telephone phone conversati
On behalf of slashdot, please stop posting.
If you don't like him, mark him foe and adjust your settings.
You are an annoyance,
And do you think you're doing Slashdot any good by posting this crap?
you're not funny,
On the contrary, I think it was funny. So is K'Breel. So is "Mr. President, Dr. Evil is on the line". If you don't like it, you can install a Greasemonkey script that will let you fold up comment trees on Slashdot and you can go ahead and fold up every single one written by TMM. But you certainly are not funny.
you're not insightful
And you aren't either. You're offtopic (by contrast, TMM's post was on topic).
and knowing you've posted a comment
As I said, mark him foe, adjust your preferences. If it still bothers you that user #862126 posts here, go outside. Talk to a girl. Have some fun. If you are so obsessed with TMM that you have to stalk him as an AC, you are spending WAY too much time in your mother's basement.
is like hitting my dick
Here is where I know you need a life. If you make a comparison like that, chances are you spend much of your time posting things like "fr1st ps0t" and the like. You are probably an active member of a vandalist organization such as anti-slash or a cyber-terrorist organization like the GNAA. Enjoy goatse much?
into a pile of broken glass with a pick axe.
Please do. We don't need you reproducing. Either get a life and stop stalking TripMaster Monkey or crawl back to trolltalk where you belong. -
Evil Google logo...
The Students for a Free Tibet created a Greasemonkey script (http://www.userscripts.org/scripts/show/3056) that replaces the Google logo with a slighty funnier version. I have it installed on my Fx, just because I think it's a nifty bit of satire, and because, well, I liked it.
On a related note, is China really such a big monster, like we always hear it is? With the one-child-per-family rule, and the abortions of baby girls, they have to have like a hundred million less girls than they'd normally have. Can a such a large and unwieldy military power itself with such a bad demographic outlook, birth rate/death rate-wise?
Translation: On down the road, it's gonna be awfully hard for guys to get dates in China. -
Augh! Silly Coral Cache link posters!
This is a *geek* website. We *automate* things!
1) Go get Greasemonkey.
2) Go get the CoralCache Slashdot Greasemonkey plugin.
3) Profit! -
Re:Before you start bitch about Firefox memory lea
Personally, I have no problems with Firefox' memory useage. I'm using an extension for browsing large amount of huge images very quickly without problems.

Re:Google != Microsoft, sorry
If you have Firefox there's a better solution:
1. Block all cookies from Experts Exchange
2. Install GreaseMonkey and this UserScript: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/1282
== No ads :-) -
Re:Get the avi here (works worldwide)
If you regularly need to download videos from Google Video:
- Install the GreaseMonkey Extension for Firefox.
- Install the Google Video - Download Video user script.
- Click the download link to download videos from Google Video.
The videos can be played under Linux with mplayer. Enjoy. -
Re:Coral Cache:
I have a Greasemonkey Script running that adds CC as a second link after each link on
/., that's quite neat in cases like this :-) -
Re:Coral Cache
I have a Greasemonkey script that adds a second, Coral Cache-ized link to all the off-site links on Slashdot.
It's awfully handy, and I'd recommend that any FireFox users out there give it a shot.
The only drawbacks I've found: every now and then, you'll get many "[CC]" coral cache links in comment headers, and if you want to copy text to paste in a response, you're liable to have [CC] after each link in the original text in your pasted text. -
Re:Stupid Coral cache submission.
Stupid Coral cache submission.
Why can't people install this GreaseMonkey script and stop worrying about whether or not someone posted a Coral Cache link? -
Coral cache plugin
There is a Greasemonkey script that sticks a Coral Cache link on each link on slashdot.org. The only drawback is that you wind up with these [CC] snippits if you copy and paste text with links.
I guess that I'd rather have a script that adds a contextual menu item for links to "Go to Coral Cache...". -

Re:google.com search result links
They used to have something in labs that worked well, I'm not sure what happened to it. Maybe we'll see it as an option for google.com/ig or something similar.
Until then you can do them clientside with Google Access Keys (greasemonkey script) -
Re:Coral Cache...
Sure, it's a great idea, but it has a lot of implications. For example, commercial sites rely on their banner ads to generate revenue. If I cache one of their pages, this will mess with their statistics, and mess with their banner ads. In other words, this will piss them off.
Commercial sites almost exclusively use absolute URLs when linking to banner ads, which are often even served via different TLDs (i.e., doubleclick.com). This is one reason why CoralCDN doesn't not modify data in transit to automatically rewrite non-Coralized links. So, I don't think that the argument that CoralCDN will reduce ad revenue is actually the main reason why Slashdot doesn't auto-include links. On a related note, server operators should be aware that Google AdSense does works with CoralCDN.
If users are interested themselves of accessing most Slashdot links via CoralCDN, I suggest checking out some of the greasemonkey scripts that are available for FireFox: http://userscripts.org/tag/coral

If you install Greasemonkey, there's a script for it which will add a delete button to the page alongside the "archive" one Google seems to think you should use for even the most useless messages.

Re:Hexus = good reviews, shitty servers.
Use the add mirrors

Re:Seriously?
Donwload GreaseMonkey for Firefox and you can fix that problem for yourself. I'm not sure if there is a script for adding a "move to trash" button specifically but I know there are GMail scripts.
Oh I just took a look for it. There is a one delete button script and one smart delete button script.
Remember that only casual users like Mr Mossberg are forced to use "whatever interface they give use". The rest of us can change it into something we want. -
