Re: Just what I needed
Yeah, it will be interesting to see what adding a watch onto your [insert carrier name here] account will be.
If it is reasonable, I might seriously consider this....the iWatch looks nice as a time piece and good as a fitness tracker.
The only think I can't find, is if it will now function as a sleep tracker.
If it does that, and the additional cellular charges are reasonable, I think I might finally get one.
My fitbit has the rubber peeling away from the face, looks pretty ratty and I'd like something a bit nicer going forward.
Don't know about built-in Sleep-Tracking (I haven't watched the KeyNote yet), but there are a number of 3rd Party WatchOS Apps that do Sleep Tracking:

Hope this helps!

Re:Better have security in there somewhere...
I appreciate your anecdotal experience, but truth be told, a lot of people really do like wrist computers.

Re:Only?
These days, thatbarely keeps the lights on at a small company.
The average price for a VR game on Steam is around $25, so these games are selling less than 10k units. So the top 30 games have sold maybe 400-500k units total.
Considering well under half-million headsets have have been sold (was 150k back in September, just after supply issues had been resolved) Let's say during the holiday rush they doubled that to 300k Vive units shipped.
That's a pretty pathetic attach rate, which means either (1) the games are terrible, or (2) the hardcore Adrenalin junkies are buying it for their simulation game of choice (cars, space combat, or sports), and nothing else.
If those estimates ae correct, the it looks like the attach rate for paid games on Steam VR is between 2-3. Those are Wii-level numbers! Don't expect any serious effort from anyone besides Valve with sell-through that bda.
Cause really, the hardcore simulation lovers assume the rest of the world loved a hardcore simulation, no matter the discomfort, or cost. These are the type of people who will drop a five hundred easy dollars on custom pedals or controllers for their favorite simulated distraction:

Re:Not sure if it's at parity really
Android Wear 2.0 now supports similar "complications" for adding third-party app customisations to watch faces etc, if that's what you're referring to.

Re:Actually, they gave an indication
During a keynote Cook showed a slide listing the top revenue generating watch companies - this was based on a table that was published elsewhere.
Cook then showed the total revenue generated by the Apple watch (his was v1) being 2nd only to Rolex, which sells between 500K and 1 Million luxury watches per year.
Well, haters say the Apple Watch is a flop. I don't know, I think I wouldn't mind flopping with that level of revenue...
here is a link with picture of the slide:

Yet again, there is this thing called data that is missing from the slide.
For example, in addition to actual watch sales, they may have included watch apps, accessories, etc. We also don't know if this is actual end user retail sales or if it includes inventory (accounting tricks). We don't know whether this trend continued or if the sales chart looked like a hockey stick after the first year (i.e. high sales for the shiny new product and then a huge drop).
That's the problem with how Apple presents it's financial information. There is a bit of fog that doesn't allow an investor to assess just how well certain product lines are doing. From other articles, I get a sense that most refer to how well Apple suppliers are doing as a gauge rather than just relying on the Apple hype.

Re:No, Aumented Reality is the next big thing.
Call me when I can buy a lightweight headset that paints the image on my retina with a frikkin laser beam.
They're working on it.
According to Forbes, they're already building the factory lines. Also at Wired, MIT tech review,

"The watch will change the technology as it develops, Jean-Claude Biver was clear about that. We want to be able to change the technology but keep the watch elements."
