in an unprecedented announcement today, stephen hawking has endorsed the copyrighted undistributable open source natalie portman and open source drew barrymore project. speaking from his office, stephen hawking released this statement:

being so reliant upon computers for my very livelyhood, i was very excited when i learned of the copyrighted undistributable open source natalie portman and open source drew barrymore project! now even i can score a hot young actress!

when asked about the "copyrighted undistributable open source license", a point of contention in the open source community, mr. hawking replied, "i have shown the copyrighted undistributable license to be consistent with the richard stallman model of freedom. normally, people think of freedom as an absolute... either you are free or you are not. i have introduced the concept of imaginary freedom. so, at one level, the copyrighted undistributable license is copyrighting and undistributing. at another, imaginary, level it is gpl compliant."

the maintainer of the copyrighted undistributable open source natalie portman and open source drew barrymore project was asked about this recent development, "like, whatever, man! i just want to open source some hot young actresses! if that ghimp can help out then fuckin' a! i just can't wait to hear that damn dirty hippy stallman's reaction!"

richard stallman could not be reached for comment.
eric raymond's repeated pleas for print space were declined.

Yes, this is offtopic, and I realize it will be moderated down quickly, but it deserves a bit more notice than the near automatic -1 moderation it recieved. The fat-time charlie online serial Give it a read, if only because you won't be hearing from the author in the Slashdot forums anymore.

And if you're an aspiring artist, perhaps you'll drop the fellow some mail. The serial is damn funny, but it would be even better with some fittingly surrealistic illustrations.

the martian father and son were battling it out on the red surface. in the intensity of combat, the two had not realized that they had worked their way to the edge of a large crevice.

suddenly, a loud rumbling filled the air. the two were shocked as the mars lander set down 20 feet away. several intruments clicked and whirred and finally the mars lander, a bit jarred by the landing, spoke, "good... good! now... give in to your anger and take your father's place at my side back on earth!"

the young martian looked at his father, who had been beaten back to the ground. he was breathing heavily and had been rendered defenseless, "never. i'll never join you! you failed your highness! i am a martian, like my father before me!"

the mars lander was irritated by this response, "so be it, martian! if you will not be turned, then you will be destroyed!"

with that, the mars lander extended a probe and began shocking the young martian with a powerful stream of plasma.

the father martian pulled himself up to his feet and hobbled over to stand next to the mars lander.

"your feeble skills are no match for the power of the 3rd planet! young fool, only now at the end do you understand! you will pay the price for your lack of vision!"

the father martian looked at his son, writhing in agony on the red ground. he turned to the mars lander.

"and now, young martian, you will be destroyed!"

the shocks grew in intensity. the young martian could feel life slipping away from him, "father, please! help me!"

the father martian could not bear the sight of his son suffering so. with his last ounce of energy he took hold of the mars lander and carried to the edge of the crevice. wild streams of energy spewed from the lander and electrified the father martian. with one final burst of energy, the father martian tossed the mars lander into the crevice and collapsed on the ground next to his son.

hmmmm. the chinese dump an operating system from a company that is the epitome of capitalism in favor of an operating system that reeks of communism. i'll bet that damn, dirty hippy richard stallman is actually from china.

here's something else to think about:

i've seen this theory floated around that the "alien abduction" phenomenon is somehow related to an "asian scare." all of the reports of the alien's appearance vaguely resemble asian people. now, to take it one step further... ever notice how alien sightings always seem to pop up around eric raymond?!

esr, rms... doesn't matter how you spell it, it sounds like "communist/alien conspiracy" to me.
