Re:Borders.
The airport is located in Covington, KY (which gives the airport its code, CVG) and begrudgingly associates itself with Ohio and Cincinnati, which is about 10 miles away and across the river. Amazon already has a number of facilities in Covington and Erlanger down by the airport (completely in Kentucky) and there's a lot of capacity as Delta winds down operations, so this isn't too surprising.
Little bit of history about the airport: http://www.wcpo.com/news/our-community/from-the-vault/from-the-vault-why-cincinnatis-airport-is-in-kentucky-70-years-after-first-flights/
I moved here a few years ago. It's a very weird area. -
They have plenty of companyAmazon is not alone in this practice. (beware the autoplayer)
As long as people value the ephemeral bargain of the markdown, instead of the actual product value, this retail trick will never die.

Re:ssh / scp / https maybe?
Give me a single solid example - voter validation leaves a paper trail, so the evidence should be easy to come by.
Utter BS!
What paper trail? You walk in, say you are Joe Blow, live at a given street, make your mark and you get a ballot... the only way you know that this was done fraudulently is if the real Joe Blow comes in later to vote and told that he already did... which mathematically wouldn't always happen depending on how well a fraudulent voter picked their targets.
Want cases of people who were told they already voted? Here are a couple:
http://www.nbc12.com/story/199...
http://www.examiner.com/articl...
And even from Scotland: http://www.itv.com/news/update...At the end of the day, so long as you keep your mouth shut (unlike this woman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?... ) you probably aren't going to get caught: http://www.wcpo.com/news/local... as you don't exactly see many cameras in polling stations synced up to when given names are scratches off as having voted.
This all assumes it's hard to get someone else's ballot, (spoiler: it isn't): https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Re:Wow
Well... they need to drive interest since they just laid off some 160 people from their West Chester, Ohio plant.
http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/region_north_cincinnati/west_chester/bae-systems-to-lay-off-about-160-employees-at-west-chester-site
I know about this since I live very close by. -
Yet little Johnny still can't read.
This is today's news, released as "Popular senior denied diploma because of too much cheering"
http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/local_news/popular-senior-denied-diploma-because-of-too-much-cheering
The sad part is the kid of color can hardly read the reason for his denial.
This kid's apparently a football star, the very example used in the 80's to better the education system.
Whatever is being done now isn't working. Learning by making is sure worth a try in some areas. -
Gee, really?
Maybe next there will be a slashdot story telling me that buying my TV from Rent-A-Center is a bad deal, or that Montel Williams Money Mutual Loans might not be such a good deal??? Duh?
Actually, compared to those deals hawked by Troy Aikman, Hulk Hogan, and Montel Williams, the Microsoft deal isn't so bad a ripoff. Some finance guy could probably tell us the interest rate--might be less than a credit card?

Re:Useful in the US, too?
I noted with some interest the discovery of that IED in Cincinnati:
http://wcpo.com/news/2006/local/11/29/bomb.html
From what little of the description there is, I don't think silly string would have been much help. It sounded like an incindiary, and was placed under a freeway overpass. I'd guess it used a timing mechanism rather than a trip wire.
Which brings up a point... silly string is great at detecting wires, but likely not so great at detecting pressure switches. -

Re: Highest death rate?
According to this link, the score is 17 american vs 4 russian deaths. Ok, ok... 14 americans have died in just two accidents. But, either way, it's two russian accidents vs 3.

Re:Replace IE6 on XP machines?
Check floating isn't the same thing as expecting delays in check cashing.
Wrong.
In 2004 a law known as "Check 21" was passed and put into action.
Please read up on what check floating is and what the law "Check 21" does.
Under new law, floating checks no longer float
New law sinks 'check floating' practice

Remote cookingtemperature reviewed or adjusted every 0.06 of a second
I've waited for such precision. I have the requisite sub-30ms pings between work and home.
No more wondering if I forgot to turn off the pan of hard boiled eggs that I left out for lunch. My alternative, of course, is the realtime monitoring of the local fire department.

Re:We SORELY Need this Technology in the USCome on, speeding fines are not a major revenue source
Actually, they can be. Cincinnati is getting ready to institute speeding cameras, and the expected revenue is $12 million per year. Some members of the city council are looking at this specifically as a revenue source to help balance the city budget.

The law is on track to be changedThis was in the paper a couple of days ago. The lawmakers realized that the wording could apply to individuals selling on Ebay, and are going to amend the law to fix this problem. The Internet provisions in the bill are supposed to pertain to Internet auction houses, not individuals. More info here.
Nothing to see here, please move a long...

Re:Ohio would be better
Ohio is doing a full recount anyway
-
Re:More articlesThis article talks about how some absentee ballots in Ohio were sent out without the names of Kerry and Edwards on them.
How freaking insane do people have to be to pull stunts like this? I mean come on this is basically a two party/person race and you send out ballots with only one name on it.
On a side note I called it here Karzai is going to win his election, Allawi is going to win his AND Bush is definately not loosing we live in a mad mad corrupt as world.
Is it a conincidence that DIEbold is based in Ohio?

Re:Um, so?....
Here in Cincinnati they are saying there will be billions of them - 500 per square meter. That's fairly unusal if you ask me. See this article for what they are predicting here. Should be interesting.

Absolute BS
Military Cruise missles cost 1 million each.
How many did we launch at the Iraqi guy we are supposedly trying to kill/find at one time?Did we hit him? nope. Did we kill a bunch of people. Yes we sure did. We killed chemical Ali - remember. One hundred percent confident we killed chemical Ali.
Oh wait, no we didnt.
but dont worry we killed that other guy in afghanistan. and nine of his body guards.
oops - those were children playing in a field. Our official appology and condolences.
Dont try to claim that just because the military weapons cost but loads of money thatthey are any more precise, smart or otherwise more effective than any other weapon that may have a smaller price tag. And to call anything other than a military cruise missle automatically a Terrorist weapon is just rediculous.
This article states that we hit Iraq with over 500 cruise missiles.here

Re:ParentsIn a similar case. A 14 year-old stabbed his favorite aunt to death while sleepwalking. It is believed that he thought he was playing Diablo.
Local story (and the server starts to burn)
From the article: "His mother says he played so much, he ruined screens on three televisions. " (bold mine)
Um...hello? Knock knock knock. Is this thing on? How the hell can you let your kid play a game that much? Is there a Psychologist in the house?
