Re:Fox News the News you want to hear.
in contrast to the liberal outlook promulgated by most other outlets.
Show me a single news channel half as left-wing as Counterpunch.org and I might believe you.
Oh wait, you can't. -

What liberal media?
What liberal media? Seriously, Alterman is right on the money here. I watch a lot of international media and, well, you guys don't know how much disinformation and conservative bias you consume per day. The added insult of believing in a "liberal media" would be funny if it wasn't so sad that media owners can so easily manipulate mass opinion.
FAIR has done an excellent job at pointing out bias and its no surprise that ownership and advertising bias tend to help the conservative "pro-big business" and "pro-deregulation" party. -

What Liberal Media?
Oh, That Liberal Media!
Sorry, I just couldn't resist. ;-) -
Why is this even a question?Kerry said that national scientific policy would be based on sound science, not ideology, in his acceptance speech at the DNC. But we know he's a flipflopper, the so-called liberal media tells us so, so he can't be trusted.
Bush, on the other hand, can run his campaign secure in the knowledge that he has a superb record on science. Christian Science, that is.
Keep this in mind the when you see the talking heads on CNN or NBC fellate Bush at the debates. The national media is not only biased, it's feeding America's ignorance.

Re:Interesting...
Sorry, but there's still a leftist slant in the general media.
The media is pro-corporate rather than liberal or conservative. Their pro-corporate viewpoints are often in line with conservative viewpoints, and so the media is often seen as conservatively biased, when in fact their bias is pro-corporate.

Re:Just make sure to make your materialSo, just because it's on, or sponsored by NPR, means that it's liberal? Is that your take?
Have you ever listened to NPR? Or do you just regurgitate what FOX News tells you? Because that's really a source of non-biased coverage. You know, just because people keep saying the media is liberal doesn't make it true.
NPR is probably one of the more interesting news agencies out there. You'll here stories there that you won't hear anywhere else. Not because of a political stance, but because they are not trying to get ratings to get advertisers. There stories are much more interesting for those with half a brain.
Besides, the current administration deserves as much heat as can be brought on them. They've gotten a very easy ride from this supposed liberal media.

Re:Mod parent up, he speaks the truth!
"AM talk radio shows rarely (if ever) claim objectivity. A website that calls itself "News" should be expected to adhere to some stardard of journalistic integrity."
Oh, you mean like Fox News?
Puh-leeze.

Best: Ilium, What Liberal Media? Worst: Potter 5
My favorite non-Terry Pratchett fiction book of the year was Ilium (which is discussed in another thread above). Why? Because I love my scifi served with a heaping infusion of classics + nanotech. It's not the greatest book of all time, but it was the most enjoyable published-in-2003 fiction of the year for me. Now if someone would just light a fire under George R.R. Martin...
What Liberal Media? gets my nod for best nonfiction of the year, and easily so.
The worst, with a bullet, was Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix. I haven't been so bored and enraged with a book since being forcefed Microserfs a ways back.
Quicksilver was horrid and easily gets my vote for most disappointing book of the year. I like the rough cut pages, though. -

Re:ACLU is Weasly?
Just because Fox News doesn't cater to your liberal left wing demands, just as CNN, MSNBC, or your major news channels do
What liberal media? -
AmusingIt's amusing how the right-wing believes there to be a systematic left-wing bias in the media, and the left-wing believes that the mainstream media distort the news to serve the oligarchical interests of the giant corporations, ie. systematic right-wing bias. I guess that's why the left and right can unite so easily on this issue.
I recommend Eric Alterman's What Liberal Media as a resource (from a left-wing perspective) on media bias: it's not the whole truth, but it's probably the best thing written on the subject.

Vast liberal conspiracy, eh?
Really? I heard differently.
