Re:Oh for goodness sake
Yeah, there's some really crazy stuff out there. Wilson Audio is always a good for a laugh. The prices you mentioned are change compared to The WAMM Master Chronosonic speaker. I think they go for $700K/ pair.
Remember those $1K Denon Ethernet cables? AudioQuest now has one that's $10K.
But my all time favorite is still Machina Dynamica. Because taping a bag of $160 dollar rocks to your RCA cables is going to improve the sound. Or their $30 dollar outlet plate. The best one from them is a bargain at just $60. It's called the Teleportation Tweak. For $60 they improve your TV and audio system by playing 20 seconds of noise, over your phone.

Re:bad science = scam
The linked article shows no power usage math and get as technical as saying the thing is the size of a "stereo speaker". I have had a lot of stereo equipment over the years but I have absolutely no idea how to translate that unit of measurement.
Yeah, it could be the size of this speaker.

Re:Some more notes about speaker efficiencyAlso note, that the flatter and wider the responce curve is, the lower the efficiency rating is going to be.
That's not true - the frequency of a speaker and its efficiency are not related at all. (exhibit 1: the Wilson Watt Puppy has a sensitivity of 93 dB 1 W/m)
That's not to say that you might not see a speaker with a flat-response and low efficiency, but it's not a causal relationship.

Re:That's not a subwoofer....
Too bad you can't buy that, but here's one that you might enjoy.

Re:From the article:
I strongly agree. While I'll be the first person to defend Bose against unwarranted charges of 'crap' it's hard for me to not laugh at someone denigrating B&O, especially since their Beolab 5 loudspeaker is easily the 2nd best loudspeaker I've ever heard (behind the Wilson Watt Puppy)

My Eyes!!
Ye gods!
Those must be the single most ugly speakers I have ever seen.
What on earth made them to put that particular picture on the front page?
Not only does the form of the speaker resemble something out of a (very... veryveryvery) bad sci-fi movie, the shade of yellow just hurts my eyes.
On a closer look, I think I would only accept these in my living room. Well.. That's a lot of bass atleast...
Oh.. This was both troll and a flamebait. Guess I should have post anonymously. -
Re:Records to MP3
you have no idea
...
Here's a Jadis at $45,000 and a Wilson at $65,000 (though Wilson used to make some for about $150,000 (called the WAMM)) -
Most expensive loudspeakers?
A few posts here complain about the $8000 each price of the speakers. That isn't even close to being the most expensive available. Wilson Audio used to sell a set of speakers that cost $125,000 a pair. I don't see it on their web page anymore, but I did see the X-1 which cost $75,900 per pair according to this review. Thing is, the review was almost 4 years ago, they probably cost more by now.
