So tell us how the man that raped and murdered this 12 year old girl can be rehabilitated?

Re:Too late
I think most kids just do the pledge without much thought, and it's only in the lower grades of school isn't it? It certainly doesn't seem to stop them from speaking out against what seems wrong about the country, even while they're still in those lower grades. Not only that, US citizens certainly aren't pledging allegiance to any dear leader, but rather to the republic "with liberty and justice for all." A government intended to be of the people, by the people, and for the people (and thus, essentially the citizenry pledging allegiance to themselves collectively). There's a good argument to be made that things have swung a bit out of whack from the original intent, but at the end of the day it's still one citizen one vote, and every so often, the public gets fed up with all the special interest, rabidly partisan nonsense and actually steps up to help push things along. There are plenty of voices of dissent, and they tend to actually get heard rather than squelched.
I also think the flags "everywhere" is largely a post 9/11 phenomenon (and to some degree, post various wars). Before that, sure a few businesses and churches had flags, and maybe 20% of homes would put out a flag on flag day or veteran's day or memorial day if they happened to have one and actually remembered, but after 9/11 it seemed like everybody everywhere across the US had them. People felt like someone had attacked them and they were going to stand together against it, as a country. Demand was so high that manufacturers couldn't even make them fast enough. No government agency forced or even enticed individuals and businesses to put the flag everywhere all the time.
Anyway, I see a VAST difference of philosophy, to such a great extent that it's truly laughable to even attempt to compare it to place like North Korea. There are people who try to blow things way out of proportion to make the US look so evil, but they're mostly pissing into the wind, and usually for some lame politically motivated purpose.

Re: Yay for "zero tolerance"
I agree we shouldn't live in fear, but we need to keep our eyes open. As parents you have to have concern for your kids given the amount of incidents that happen, some are anecdotal like "drug bust near school" others hit home.

Senator Rand Paul Detained after TSA Scan
Where EHF radiation can see through your clothes, T-rays can penetrate a few millimeters of skin.
...
T-ray scanners can detect toxic substances, bombs, drugs...- that's great, so there will be even more false positives like the one that just happened with senator Rand Paul
Sen. Rand Paul stopped by TSA at Nashville Airport
Kentucky U.S. Senator Rand Paul was held by TSA officials at Nashville International Airport Monday morning after an "irregularity" was found during the security screening process.
...Aides to the senator said Sen. Paul set off a full body scanning machine going through airport security. Sen. Paul claimed it was a "glitch" and wanted to keep going.
An aide told NBC News that Sen. Paul told the screeners he doesn't have any metal. Apparently it was his right leg that was setting off the scanner. He raised his pant leg and showed them his leg, according to the aide. Paul said it was "clearly a glitch."
The aide said TSA refused to let him re-scan and demanded that he submit to a full body pat down.
The TSA said in a news release that "the passenger" was rebooked on another flight and was rescreened without incident.

Re:sad
Perhaps if you could give us a list of all that "violence coming from the left" in the US that is somehow being cleverly concealed by all the media of the world (must be some kind of a leftist conspiracy involving all those pinko-commie corporate CEOs!) it would help your points to attain some modicum of credibility. Unless your post was meant to be some very subtle satire, that is.
- It was not the fear of conservative violence that caused Ann Coulter's speech to be cancelled this week.
- It was a liberal who bit the finger off a man who disagreed with him on healthcare.
- It was Obama-loving Amy Bishop who took a gun to work and murdered co-workers.
- Joseph Stack flew his plane into the IRS building after writing an anti-conservative manifesto.
- It was liberals who destroyed AM radio towers outside of Seattle.
- It's liberals who burn down Hummer dealerships.
- It was progressive SEIU union thugs who beat a black conservative man who spoke his mind.
- It's doubtful that a conservative fired shots into a GOP campaign headquarters.
- In fact, Democrats have no monopoly on having their offices vandalized.
- Don't forget it was Obama's friend Bill Ayers who used terrorism as a tool for political change. SDS is still radical, with arrests in 2007 and the storming of the CATO Institute in July 2008.
- It was a liberal who was sentenced to two years for bringing bombs and riot shields to the Republican National Convention in 2008.
- It was a liberal who threatened to kill a government informant who infiltrated her Austin-based group that planned to bomb the RNC.
- It was liberals who assaulted police in Berkeley.
- It was liberals who intimidated and threw rocks through the windows of researchers.
- The two Black Panthers who stood outside polls intimidating people with nightsticks were probably not right-wingers.
- Every time the G20 gets together, it's not conservatives who destroy property and cause chaos.
I could literally go on and on, but let's try to have some perspective here. Violence is a product of the fringe, on either side, and it's sickening to try to use it for political advantage. Those who commit violence in the name of politics deserve political change no more than they deserve leniency in sentencing. Violence furthers no cause. The only call to action that violence has ever moti

Re:Impact on the Currents?
I don't know if Tennessee will have much much impact on ocean currents, since it's the only place on your list not on the ocean! However, Nashville is one of the most popular entertainment centers in the world, and it is often called the Third Coast (with New York and Hollywood on the other two coasts).
The Tennessee Valley Authority has three nuclear plants which produce about 30% of the power TVA generates. Tennessee has some of the cheapest electricity rates in the nation.
In addition, we have Oak Ridge, which produced the uranium used for the world's first atomic bomb in the Manhattan Project. They even have a festival now celebrating their secret past.
But we don't have any oceans. Sorry! :-) -
Re:Check out the definition of "conspiracy"You have a good point. Here in Nashville, TN (USA)
"December 16, 2004
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- An advertising executive for a weekly alternative newspaper was charged Thursday with six counts of promoting prostitution in connection with adult ads he accepted and coordinated.
A grand jury indicted Nels Noseworthy, 29, following an investigation that spanned more than a year. Police said Noseworthy was the contact person for anyone placing ads in the "Personal Adult Services" section of the Nashville Scene."

Everything's a threat in the wrong hands...
With Airplanes dumping powder on people's houses the proof is there that they don't need smallpox or Anthrax. Many pesticides and other common poisons could be easily as deadly.
What's worse is that this shit is going on and the media isn't noticing. Mostly to prevent panic, I'm sure, but it's pretty bad when someone lives less than 5 miles where something like this happens, and NO INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE!
If Small Pox were to break out -- unless it gets into the public eye before big-brother can step in -- don't worry, you won't ever know about it.
