Matrix Sequel Delayed to 2003

moojin was among the countless slashdot readers who noted that scifi (No I am Sci-Fi dammit) has reported that the 'Matrix Reloaded' will be delayed until the summer 2003. I'm bummed, but I'm willing to wait to see the Brothers W do it right (no way I'm gonna try to spell that name ;)

    I don't know why they want to make a sequel to the movie. No one has ever made a sequel better that the orginial.

    *sigh*

    It seems like the Wachowski brothers are dissapointing. I think the worst blow to the development so far has been the "missed" aquisition of Jet Li, martial arts expert extrodinaire. Apparently, Li was either too greedy or the Wachowski Brothers/Producers weren't willing to give Li the money he asked. This in my opinion, is a very sad blow against the movie.

    First, Li's gone, now they push back the date. I pray that the Matrix won't suffer from the sophmore jinx.

    Is this delay because of production problems / quality issues or just because the struggling AOLTW movie division can't hope to compete with StarWars Episode II: Send In The Clones? They've lost too much money recently to send a big-budget guaranteed hit in to fall on its sword against the LucasFilm monster.
