It has multiplayer deathmatch with, I believe, up to a whopping 4 players.

Only the XBox version has cooperative mode, unfortunately.

Oh, and going to id.com won't help you much. idsoftware.com, on the other hand, is probably what you're looking for.

if you had RTFA you would know that this is the first time that people will have played Doom3 multiplayer (even the leaked beta didn't have that).

Doom3 is still going to be released after quakecon. This tournament doesn't affect the release date.

The article clearly states that Doom3 will not be released before Quakecon. The official release "date" for Doom3 is Summer.

So, Doom3 in summer (June ~21st - Sept ~21st), after Quakecon (August 12-15), narrows it down. Most people expect a late August release.

No, no. Online registration began back on April 14th, 2004. It was full in about a day.

However, there is a waiting list. When you get there there will be two huge lines snaking around the walls. The smaller line is for those who've pre-registered, while the other snakes around entire second floor of the place, each player hoping for a spot in the grand ballroom.

For those who haven't registered and wish to attend, be sure to get there EARLY. And I mean 5AM or earlier if you wish to get in.

Good thing I got registered 30 minutes after it began...

While this may be the first day that a lot of people play DOOM3 Multiplayer, it definitely won't be the first day that anyone has played DOOM3 Multiplayer.

At QuakeCon in 2003 there was a dedicated DOOM3 deathmatch booth that allowed attendees to play DOOM3 multiplayer. They shuffled attendees through in about 15 minute intervals for three days.

    It was kick ass.

Name a motion picture from the past year or two that featured stunning animation or dazzling special effects, and chances are the film's producers used Linux-based computers to splash those graphics on the big screen.
"In short, the big news in Hollywood about Linux is it is no longer big news. Linux has won not only renderfarm servers, but the artist desktops of the top studios. It's hard to find a large studio that does not rely upon Linux as its primary animation and special effects OS, and many smaller film studios have adopted Linux, too...
"You hear a lot about Linux not being ready to work on desktops," said HP's Jeff Wood, director of product marketing for personal workstations. "Well, here we have the perfect example of how Linux is more than ready for the desktop -- hundreds of animators successfully used Linux to create a film right from their desktops."
