  1. Why not pony up for the real deal? on Making Earbuds That Fit (Video) · · Score: 1

I never understood why people were content to drop ~$300 for a PMP every few years but then skimp on headphones which should, in theory, outlast any media player. Man up and get the real thing: http://www.jhaudio.com/ http://ultimateears.logitech.com/ http://www.westone.com/music/

  2. It is better than competing services on Netflix Hopes to Offer Services Via 360, PS3 · · Score: 5, Informative

Having used the netflix "watch it now" service as well as iTunes I can say that of the two, Netflix is superior. Having not used Amazon's service or movielink or anything like that I can't comment on them except to say that I would never use them.

With netflix, I pay 16.99 a month for 3 movies out at a time. On top of that I get 17 hours of online watching for free (As in, when I signed up I paid that amount for the DVDs and no instant viewing). What I like about the Netflix service is that A) It's fast... movies start within 15 seconds B) It scales well depending on your connection speed (up to DVD resolution video) and C) I "rent" the material, I do not pay to own it.

Recently, Netflix has also partnered with NBC and I know that for some shows (Heroes specifically) they will put the most recent episode on line 2 days after it airs without commercial in widescreen 720x480 resolution.

I have also heard that netflix are testing out plans for unlimited online viewing along with DVD rentals at their current prices for new customers. It seems like a win win to me.

  3. Re:Is it worth it? Yes. Is it being mismanaged?Ye on The Xbox Live Arcade - One Year Later · · Score: 1

I think you've done some bad math my friend. The cost of an average game on the XBMP is around $5. Lumines was like $8 for the base and $8 more for the advanced pack.

Where are you getting that it costs like $40?

If anything its a bargain.... I paid $40 for it on PSP and that is without many of the modes that the 360 version has. You need to check your math my friend.

Didn't they use this (or maybe they were going to but never did) when the actor who played Dumbledore died? I thought i remembered reading that they were going to map the dead actors face onto the new actor?

  6. Sony is screwed on How Important is Gears of War for Microsoft? · · Score: 1, Flamebait

Sony is screwed... I'll still be buying a PS3 though. No 1st gen title will be able to match something as good as gears of war (or as good as it should be). I see no reason for someone to buy a PS3 over a 360 this holiday season unless they already own a 360 (which I'm sure most of the first PS3 buyers will).

  8. Re:Still small... but growing on Microsoft's Rush To Xbox 2 A Danger? · · Score: 1

Although MMORPGs only represent a small percentage of games out there, FFXI has sold near to if not more than 750,000 copies on PC and PS2 combined.... thats no small feat. I'd say interest in Online gaming is still growing and growing fast. EQ was the first wildly successful MMORPG with a monthly fee, but recently many, many titles that have monthly fees attached have been released and have been successful; titles such as: Star Wars Galaxies, Shadowbane, Planetside and the soon to be released (Assuredly a success) Worlds of Warcraft. My opinion is that we will see a lot more "specialty" online games with a monthly fee attached in the near future.

  9. Re:Online Console Gaming is the Future on Microsoft's Rush To Xbox 2 A Danger? · · Score: 1

I think the abysmal showing (in terms of sales in the overall game market) of virtually every MMO with the exception of Everquest demonstrates that most people aren't that interested in on-line only play.

.... if I'm not mistaken Final Fantasy XI overtook everquest in terms of active users not too long ago. I think that this demonstrates that there is an interest in online games and even more so that there is an interest in online games with a monthly fee.
