Dunst Demands Asset Reduction For Spider-Man 2 Videogame

Thanks to IOL.ie for its article discussing actress Kirsten Dunst's issues in approving her videogame likeness for Activision's Spider-Man 2 game. According to the lengthy news story, "The actress was asked to give her approval for the sequel's new merchandise and had to chastise the game's saucy creators." Although the Treyarch-developed Xbox/PS2/GameCube game has been well-received, certain dimensional inaccuracies were less appreciated by Ms.Dunst, as she explains, regarding her character Mary Jane Watson: "I got to approve the video game, the way she looks. They made her boobs gigantic. I was like, 'Tone down the boobs, please!' It was a little ridiculous."

One of the recent episodes of the TV show x-play showed some ridiculous examples of physical modeling and costuming in video games. Many characters had huge breasts that must have contained helium bladders to keep them upright, plus a titanium support structure built into their costume. They reminded me of Frank Frazetta's cover illustrations for Conan the Barbarian.

Actually it's herself portraying a character.. The character shouldn't be a representation of her but rather she a representation of the character and hence have no say in how others portray the same character.

Ahhh... but isn't the video character portraying Dunst portraying Mary Jane? Therefore, in this case, the character would be portraying the actor, not vice-versa.

Anyway, I do think it's a bit annoying that developers have to put huge tits on everything. I get a feeling they think that no matter what shit they release, put some big tits in the ads and on all the female characters and people will still buy it.

I think it's gotten a little out of hand personally. Funny thing is I have heard at least two other actresses (I'm pretty sure the female lead in the recent bond game was one) make the same complaint as dunst. Speaking as a male, i'd prefer to see something a little more, er, realistic. Game modelers are a little eccentric though.

It seems a little silly for her to complain about computer games focusing on her breasts when her entire movie career has done the same... I'm sure everyone remembers that infamous Spiderman scene in the rain (to name just one).

I can't help but feel she just wants some more attention. Same with her recent comments about killing spidey off...

      Her entire acting career?

You're aware she was in a few movies before Spiderman, right?

Like "Interview with the Vampire" when she was maybe nine, twelve years old. I can't be bothered to look up how old she was, but that movie certainly didn't focus on her breasts. I don't know her filmography, but you could look it up on IMDB if you're that interested.

Anyway...the "infamous" scene from the first Spiderman movie doesn't really have anything that risque. She was in the rain...yup, wet t-shirt contest, but it's not that (bad/good). Watch it again, you'll see what I mean. It's really a very short sequence with her "bouncing" in the rain. Like two seconds. Very disappointing ;)

Watch the credits on "The Man Show" to see something more interesting.

How about a game where you *ARE* breasts? You could shoot breast milk at the bad guys (underwire bras perhaps?), get powerups to become huge and mesmerize the enemy, crush your opponents underneath with your 'bounce attack' and use your surroundings (the beach, strip bar, plastic surgeon's office) to camouflage yourself.

Enemies could include a newborn (your life force is draining!), middle school boys (the devious purple nurple!), and Fundies (...harlot! Bind those objects of Satan!)

I think the solution to this 'breast obsession' is to make all game devs watch 'Showgirls' at least 20 times. I saw it once and was sick of tits for at least 2-3 hours.
