Connery In Russia With Love Title

Yet another movie tie-in rears its head, as Gamespot has word that Sean Connery will be reprising his role as James Bond for an upcoming 'From Russia with Love' game title. From the article: "Based on the 1963 movie of the same name, the game will also feature the likeness of the then-33-year-old actor, who is currently 74. It will also feature the 1963-era likenesses of his Love costars, including the late Robert Shaw, who played villain Donald "Red" Grant, and the late Desmond Llewelyn, who played gadget master Q through most of the spy-film series."

    to have the best easter eggs ever...Imagine...you're going through a level, see a glimmer off in a dark corner, go pick it up, and a hidden video clip plays, featuring sean connery in celebrity jeopardy!

    but seriously, I hope the game features a good portion of connery, voice-wise, etc...The man is one of my all time favorite actors, and needs to be preserved, before he finally dies, at 110, I hope..

      Imagine...you're going through a level, see a glimmer off in a dark corner, go pick it up, and a hidden video clip plays, featuring sean connery in celebrity jeopardy!

      Or! Or! You find a tiny floating stone head in the corner of one of the levels and unlock the special "Zardoz" costume, with Connery in a red loincloth.

      Oh, that wacky Electronic Arts, forever searching for new ways to make players gouge out their eyes.

    I've recently watched all the bond movies and Connery is by far the coolest of all the Bonds.

    That being said, I hope they don't rely too much on the voice acting and use it instead as a bonus. They should instead concentrate on the gameplay itself and not build the game around the novelty voice acting.

    I haven't seen a good Bond game since Goldeneye64 and even that left me lacking after a while.

      That's because Goldeneye was made by Rare, and EA got the license after that. Make no mistake, if the new Bond game is from EA, it will probably be lame.

      For real. Every EA Bond game so far has been an excellent example of why EA needs to reconsider their hiring philosophy for FPS project managers.

      Nothing blows my immersion experience of a game apart like enemies spawning RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME and being able to hit accurately with a handgun from 300 yards.

      most of the story is set in Turkey and in the Orient Express, in particular for 007.

    Games have slowly been improving on the audio front for a long time , however many have failed to realise the importance of good voice work.
    The entire emmerison can be broken by 1 cheesy half baked accent or a some poorly read lines.
    I do not mind so much about the real actors however i would like games producers to start hiring real voice actors more often to fill the roles.
    As someone who has done profesional and amature voice work for games ,radio and some TV it pains me all the more to hear amaturish maulings of what could have been an excelent scene , Honestly i would do games work for free if asked (some times not all the time) yet we still have to suffer the dead monotone ramblings of some of the worst actors this side of anime dubs.

    and I wonder if they will go for an X or R rated videogame by including the three days of continuous lovemaking in the train...or the bed scene where Bond first meets Tatiana (with only her stockings on). "Good evening, Mr.Bond..". Not speaking of course of the catfight where the two Gypsies end up naked, and where Bond shoots his way out through 8 Bulgars : even worse than GTA !

      I think you're joking, but just in case you aren't...

      Book and movie rights are not the same thing. EA had the rights to the Lord of the Rings movies for their video games; they couldn't use anything that wasn't in one of the three films.

      Since the movie didn't have those scenes in it, it's almost certain that they won't be in the game. After all, why spend moeny on book rights when you don't need to?

      Even so, it'd be interesting to hear Connery work his way through those scenes...

      good point, but for what I remember of the movie the scene where Bond finds Tatiana naked in his bed is the movie, as well as the lovemaking in the train. I am not sure for the catfight. At the time Bond movies were intended for an adult audience (remember the bikini scene in Dr.No) : the fight with Red at the end is one of the more realistic and violent I have ever seen in a movie. Remember that in the sixties people were still used to go to the movies often, and not everyone had a TV, especially in Europe ; besides, cinemas were omnipresent and extremely cheap (no 5.1, wooden chairs...) Things started to go down with Moonraker, when the success of Star Wars made the producers target the teens and even the kids with Jaws. The average cinema audience is much younger now than in the early sixties since parents prefer to stay home to watch TV, which is much cheaper than movies, popcorn, babysitter, etc.

    I am not sure it's in the movie, but definitely in the novel : the Russians use Bulgar gangsters for all the menial tasks in Istanbul, like following Bond and Bey on scooters, etc. When Bond and Bey assist to a gipsy banquet, there is a catfight staged to settle a matter between two girls, interrupted by a Bulgar attack which ends in a very bloody mess, despite the miserable firepower of Bond's Beretta .25 (changed to a PPK later in the books, in the first scene of Dr.No : the books were not adapted in order).
