China PM Wants to Rule Global Tech With India
GrumpyDeveloper writes "As reported in this Wired story, China's prime minister said Sunday that China and India should work together to dominate the world's tech industry, bringing together Chinese hardware with Indian software.
I wasn't aware that India was so technically advanced...
Lately a friend of mine's been complaining about how the tech support at her workplace has been outsourced to India. The reason she's unhappy is because they never really seem to understand much about technology...even when she does manage to contact someone who speaks non-broken English.
What great Indian software developments do the Chinese speak of?
We have data protection laws and human rights laws and so on, India does not yet your bank information is expected to be held there. I refuse to bank with any bank who pushes me to talk to Indian call centers with personal information. Look at the previous case of fraud and crime using said information.
So China makes a statement about wanting to dominate the tech industry, and suddenly the US becomes a third world country?
Nonsense. The same things were said when Japan made a move to dominate the car industry, so what happened?
Nothing, that's what. Businesses change to compete, and the same thing will happen here.
It may be tough on manufacturing, but since those wages have been artificially propped up by unions, I don't care what happens to them. More importantly, if you made your living on something that will ultimately be automated, you deserve what you get.
Am I the only one bothered by the fact India is keeping the pro-Tibetan protestors out of the picture?
Yes. You and a small bunch of other hippies.
Seriously, who cares about some monks up high in the mountains. Tibet is not a country. They are not self-sufficient, they have no economy to speak of, they are nothing if they weren't part of China (or India). The sooner they understand that and stop that silly struggle for "independence", the better off they will be. It's not like China is exploiting the riches of Tibet, doesn't look like they have much oil or arable land or anything. Mostly llamas and snow.

but to train the mind for learning.
Clearly you don't have the first fucking clue how the American school system works. Having actually taught in it I can assure you that 'training the mind for learning' is NOT one of the goals of modern schooling; it is, in fact, antithetical to those goals. The last thing in the world the school system wants is a kid that think for him or herself, or worse - figure out that some of the stuff we're selling them is absolutely useless in the real world.

My god carries a hammer. Your god died nailed to a tree. Any questions?
"key players" is not an answer. Name them.
That's stupid. Of all the big diplomatic decisions, I'm supposed to know who all of the key players are at any given time? How am I supposed to know? What I am sure of is that big decisions such as those made at the diplomatic level are made by important people and groups, many of which may be deliberately hidden from me. I can only surmise this because I now that the unimportant and the ineffectual are NOT the ones making the big decisions.
Also that is bullshit to extrapolate "hate corporate america" out of a post. That is
an ad hominem attack.
I don't think so. I was merely making a guess about your political beliefs by your choice to name Corporate America and the Republicans. It's common knowledge that Leftists equate Corporate America with evil and Hitler, and they treat the Republicans as toadies for Corporate America. If you believe otherwise, then I retract my guess about your political beliefs.
I was asking a question. You did not answer it.
I did. Key players make the diplomatic decisions. By nature, I can't always know who they are. Do you argue otherwise?
You seem like a kid who just wants to argue and act like a prick. If your tone doesn't improve in your next post then I won't reply.
I don't make the rules. I just make fun of them.
You are sadly mistaken if you think there are no unmotivated and incompetent workers/CEO's in China/India (or anywhere else).
Having lived in India and the US, I think lack of motivation and incompetence is more prevalent in India. More so Govt. run companies. Most Indians I know in the US are on H1 and are thoroughly incompetent. Its the talented few who keep the image of Indians from being tarnished.
If you're talking about the general decline in the work culture in the US, then I agree.
The USA will loose a big slice of the profits if this happens. What lies will the USA government make up this time in order to go to war with India or China in order to prevent this happening? int 20h;
