Batman Begins Trailer Released

Chris_Jefferson writes "The full-length trailer for Batman Begins has been released. Christian Bale looks great as Bruce Wayne, and hopefully I can recover from exposure to the awful last couple of Batman films, and the equally terrible Catwoman."

Batman can kill anyone he wants! Batman cuts off heads ALL the time and doesn't even think twice about it. This guy is so crazy and awesome that he flips out ALL the time. I heard that there was this time he was eating at a diner. And when some dude dropped a spoon Batman killed the whole town. My friend Mark said that he saw Batman totally uppercut some kid just because the kid opened a window.

And that's what I call REAL Ultimate Power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't believe that Batman has REAL Ultimate Power you better get a life right now or he will chop your head off!!! It's an easy choice, if you ask me.

The vehicle is NOT the "new Batmobile"

It's not even the old Batmobile. It's the tumbler, the precursor to any Bruce-designed rides. This was a prototype vehicle developed at Wayne Enterprises R&D for military purposes, and the project got scrapped.

Batman is not flying. He is gliding, using the rails sewn into the edges of his cape.

There will be lots in this movie* that doesn't line up with the other 4 flicks, because it's in a completely different continuity line. The director wanted everything in this movie to be believable and realistic. It's going to be darker and more real than even the first Batman in 1989.

*SPOILER: The end shows Commissioner Gordon holding up a clue from the next villain they can't catch without Batman's held, a playing card (Joker).

All I can say is "good!". After the last two debacles the only tenable option was to his the big red PANIC!/RESTART! button in the corner, ignore the existence of anything else and try again.

I kind of appreciated Burton's take on Batman. While I didn't really like the films that much (for reasons relating to poor plots and a little too much humour) I do think he had an interesting and worthwhile vision for Batman. After Burton left so did any last semblance of sanity. We lost the strong vision, the plots and attempted humour only got worse, and well... How to sink a franchise really.

I must say, though, that given the success of Sin City it would be interesting to see a similarly styled take on The Dark Knight Returns. I guess that really depends on how much money Sin City makes.

I dunno, it's gonna be hard to be more real than a guy falling into a vat of acid, having plastic surgery done to make himself look like clown and then defacing an art museum while dancing around to Prince music....

If you want to see a change watch The Machinist. Bale is literally nothng but skin and bone - he apparently lost fully 1/3 his weight for the film. A pretty good performance as a man on the edge of losing his mind as well. I can definitely picture Bale as Wayne/Batman, hopefully bringing a little more of the psychological edge to the character than previous films attempted.

To be frank I think the previews look uninspiring. I just keep looking at the cast (which is for the most part great) and the director (Christopher Nolan) who while new has some decent films under his belt already. Surely they can't make too much of a mess - hopefully the previews are just badly put together. At the very least it looks like it will be far and away superior to the last couple of Batman films.

I live in stately Wayne Manor. My name is Bruce Wayne. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Bruce Wayne, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our life styles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

One has to ponder the socio-economic impact that batman has had on our culture. In a post 9/11 world, one has to take into consideration that kids, seeing this man become a vigilante and being revered for it, will soon immitate him and start their own crime-catching crusade.
