Don't forget to keep paying rent on your music. Did you know that if you don't keep renting it it will cease to work? That's gotta suck.

Every Tuesday I log in and download and listen to all the new release album. Just one album covers the monthly cost.

I've downloaded so much stuff it's insane.

BTW - don't forget to keep your CDs out of your car in the summer and in protective baggies - beacuse if they melt or get scratched, the record company is not going to replace them.

Look at it this way - it's a montly fee for storage space where I store all of my music - gigs and gigs - for a small price.

no, no, I buy my music. I don't rent it. I get to keep it. Do you understand? Keep, not rent. My music will continue to play long after I stop shipping at the iTMS. Your songs require a constant payment to stay useful.

If you stop paying, your music will stop playing. It's very simple.

How can you live with this arrangement, of not actually owning the media you enjoy, knowing it could be gone the next day or after your drive crashes?

My 110GB of mp3s and mp4s is backed up, playable on any computer or portable music device in my house, and the music itself is not going anywhere. You cannot say the same.

Make sure you save your receipts, they may let you actually own a track or two once you've been paying them for 4 years.
