Well, that sure sucks to be you.

My G4 tower has been running almost non-stop, full of hard drives and PCI cards since August of 2000. No hardware issues. Not one.

iPod's been fine for over 2 years, still has an 8 hour battery, and it's in great condition.

You need to learn how to take care of your stuff. Especially expensive stuff. (well, neither of your machines were expensive, they are both the consumer line anyway, perhaps Apple uses higher quality parts in their Pro machines)

So spout your horror stories and FUD, and I'll point out what you did wrong in your steps to resolve issues and share my friends and my own positive stories. Sound good?

Um, sorry, but the artists already screwed themselves when they signed to a major. It's been no secret that the standard industry contracts hurt artists.

The artist's music was sold/licensed to allofmp3.com at bargain prices by the RIAA. I could care less about hurting any major label 'artist'. If I like their music, I'm going to find the most convenient and cheap way to get their music. Yes, fuck the artist, because they're already fucked.

I agree that we should support indies. They at least have the sense not to sign with a major.

Yes, as a musician I want to get paid for my work. However, I don't believe that any major label is going to provide me with that.

Even in a situation where the artist's royalties havent paid back their advance and not made a dime, they still got flown around the world, went to wild parties and got fed and put up in great hotels at the record companies expense. I dont see this russian website donating money towards recording studio fees, do you?

Where the hell is this relevant? The artists chose those things, paid for it out of their advance, and will have to repay it. I can record an album for a lot less, and have it sound just as good, if not a lot better.

The Allofmp3 site was sold all the RIAA music they have for bargain-basement prices by the RIAA. If musicians want to 'make it', they need to get involved in the new recording industry and take control of things themselves. I refuse to 'owe' multiple albums to anyone.

  10. Re:AllOfMP3 has me spending on BPI Sue AllOfMp3 In British Courts · · Score: 1

We content owners are able to set our own pricing, just not if we've sold our soul to the RIAA. Seems fair to me.

And no, it's not the creator's choice, once they've sold the rights to a publishing house or record label.

I think most people will come to see it (downloadable commentaries) as a cash grab by the ever-faltering MPAA. Go see the same movie twice at the *shudder* theatre? Not a chance. Wait for the DVD commentary if I care that much.

It's already hard enough to enjoy a movie in a theatre. Apparently, the majority of parents have failed to raise respectful, considerate people.

    No streaming occurs.

If you've subscribed to a show with an application that supports RSS enclosures, the files are downloaded automatically. Not streamed. Downloaded to your hard drive, in full.

The folks you talk about are pretty much doing the same thing, only they're missing out on having it delivered to them. It involves a bit more work for them; they have to go find the actual mp3 files and download them. Podcasting lets you not have to worry about checking for updates to your favourite feeds.

It's simple RSS with enclosures, not streaming.

Do people really think that it means you can only 'move' the songs 5 times? To be clear, the song can be authorized to play at the same time on 5 different computers. You can move the actual file from one drive to another a thousand times if you want.

To deauthorize all computers associated with your account:

1.Click Music Store in the Source list.
2.If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
3.Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
4.In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.

    See how easy that was?

Your friends should really be pissed about the labels' forced use of DRM in the first place.
