Seattle Named Gamiest City
GameDailyBiz is reporting on a list compiled by Sperling's BestPlaces, in which the top videogaming cities in the country are named. They look at number of consoles per household, game rentals, games purchased, and amount of online gaming in the area. Seattle got top spot, followed by Minneapolis/St. Paul and Atlanta. From the article: "Microsoft and BestPlaces, citing results from 2005 Entertainment Software Association findings, also pointed to the increasing age of the average gamer and how the gender gap is narrowing. The average age of a gamer is now 30, and 19 percent of gamers are actually older than 50. While there are still more male than female gamers, it's not as lopsided as it once was. About 55 percent of players are male and approximately 43 percent are female."

I'd make the Unix joke, but I've already been in front of a firing squad today, once was enough.
trustedworlds.net - gaming, security, and the gunk that lives in between
Wow.. I thought Seattle was cooler than that.
Seattle is the gamiest city? How about taking a shower! Try some deodorant!
I'm not a Troll, it's reverse psychology.
"Gamiest City"
Here is we where we fill slashdot's daily quota of B.O. jokes...
Ok, we always associate Redmond to Microsoft, but the original King of Video Games (Nintendo) also resides in Redmond.
Seeing as to how Redmond is, what, 30-50 miles away from Seattle, is it really a surprise that Seattle is Gamer's Haven?
On another note, here's an interesting bug (its an image) in Slashdot (I dont know what it means, but if Im to take a guess, I'm being informed of the upcoming story even though I'm not a subscriber -_-;;)

San Francisco was named "Gaymiest" city, followed closely by West Hollywood.
9 months of rain a year? Hell yeah I am going to play me some games...
Younger populations with good amounts of disposable income? Check. Lots of tech and financial services in these areas.
Crappy weather for a large portion of the year? Check (ATL is nasty in the summer, SEA has a little problem with cloud cover and rain for most of the year, and MN winters...).

The comment about 55% being male and 43% female, aside from being 2% short, has little meaning if they don't define how they're measuring those numbers. Are they just counting the number of people who've ever played a video game. Does that 43% female count any girl who's ever dropped a quarter into a pac-man machine at the bowling alley? I would imagine that if you looked at other measures of video gaming that males are still well in command, such as total hours spent playing video games, or amount of money spent on video games.
I would have thought that honor would have been bestowed upon Staten Island. (Note: Read the headline to get the joke. Gamiest is a word but it's definition doesn't match anything related to video games.)
Ooo man the floppy drive is broken. No wait. The computer is just upside down.
I tagged this as 'badmath' for having the percentages add up to 98%.

Did someone secretly teleport Seattle to France when I wasn't looking?
LIES! All LIES!
This is TRUE lunacy!!
MPLS/ST.Paul was number 2. It's cold there.
Atlanta was number 3. I've never been there, but I imagine it gets pretty hot and humid outside...
I think you're on to something.
My mom and my sister both play bejeweled, my grandma plays a slot machine game (religiously) so they're fucking up the averages.
PS - Redmond is much closer than 30-50 miles... more like 15-20. The Microsoft area is like a commune.
Oh, and we don't smell... That's Tacoma.
Seattle is probably the most rainy, gray, and depressing city in the US.
