Finding High Quality Videos from E3?
Alec T asks: "Seeing how E3 is fast approaching, I was wondering where Slashdot readers go for their E3 fix? Gamespot, IGN and 1UP all provide free low quality streams and downloads, however we are reduced to having to pay to access high quality trailers and press conference screenings. Why is this? Is there a site out there which caters to our high definition needs? If bandwidth is such a concern, maybe BitTorrent would be the best distribution method, particularly for the console press conferences?"
Gamespot, IGN and 1UP all provide free low quality streams and downloads, however we are reduced to having to pay to access high quality trailers and press conference screenings. Why is this?
Profit, is the sole reason.
If you have it G8 will have extensive coverage of e3
And even the "HQ" videos are barely done with crappy camcorders... If they could use some proper HD cams to do their stuff it'd sure be more motivating.
I usually end up resorting to bittorrent for the console press conferences, as you mentioned. I find that there's always SOME smaller news site that has a bittorrent link for those.
However, for actual gameplay footage, I usually find myself coming to these:
http://www.advancedmn.com/ (WMV... uggh)
http://www.gametrailers.com/ (WMV and QT. Better)
So yeah, I usually come to gametrailers for my E3 fix. Posting is prompt, and quality is usually good.
Well, my Xbox 360 said that it's the only place to turn of exciting E3 footage. Although something tells me I won't find any Metal Gear Solid information on it...
Small potatoes make the steak look bigger.
Apparently, all the 360 trailers released during E3 will be downloadable on your 360. Now that's great marketting. Plus, some of the E3 demos will actually be downloadable :) I can't wait for next week.
I've never finided anything in my entire life, sorry.
They have a queue-based download system that's free, although queues will probably be pretty long during E3. I do believe, however, that the first month's subscription, allowing you to skip queues, costs $1.
All those who believe in telekinesis, raise my hand.
I'm a little bit rusty on my finiding. Can someone explain how to finid properly? I've checked all the usual sources, and even read the manual, but there was simply no good information on how to finid, finidation, finidoscopies, or finid finales.
Xbox 360 related coverage will be available here on Microsoft's Xbox site. I also believe that you will be able to download demos and videos via Xbox Live Marketplace directly from your 360.

I don't know if they're doing it this year, but www.gamesarefun.com has done live blogging of major game press conferences in the past. They're a smaller site, but they're the first of the to cover a lot of these real time. Pretty nice for those of us who want to keep up on the news as it's happening, especially with big press conferences for the Wii and PS3 happening this year! If anyone knows of other sites doing this kind of live updates, spread the news!

G4 will be covering E3 (you sunk my battleship!) live the whole week.

I'm at a loss as to why someone or some group of large publishers hasn't set up some sort of virtual E3. The XBOX360's allowing users to download videos and demos is a huge step toward this- but it only really works for people who have a 360.
I can imagine some sort of Virtual E3- have some live streaming video of the various events, virtual booths where you can view game demos, maybe read interviews with developers and get high resolution screenshots. I think a lot of people would pay to have access to something like that as well. I can't really imagine a better situation. Millions of gamers who would sell their mothers to go to E3 pay publishers for the priviledge of watching a few hours of advertisements.
The only reason I can think why they might not do this is that to the game journalists, E3 is like christmas. I would imagine magazine and web subscriptions probably go up considerably around E3, and as E3 is really a press event, it might not do well to piss off the press by stealing their subscribers.

Gaming Horizon has partnered with DivX for E3 video coverage. They're offering everything for free, including high quality trailers and such. Everything's nicely integrated with the divx web player, or you can just download.
If you have it [G4] will have extensive coverage of e3
Likewise, if you have it Gamespot, IGN and 1UP will have extensive coverage of e3
But then we're back to the OP's problem. Where I live, G4 is not included with basic cable.
Am I the only one hoping to get high quality videos of these two booth babes going at it? *drools*
We do not live in the 21st century. We live in the 20 second century.
I found a thread asking for them, and here is the address. If you want torrents at Gamespot, then post here!

It sounds really neat actually, especially the subscription thing, where I'm hoping you can just leave it running grabbing videos automatically.
I got IGN's insider access for E3 last year and have not been disappointed. It only cost 19.99 for a whole year and they have a lot of very high-res (Some HD) videos.
I would recommend it.
I may regret this, as the slashdot hoards might crash the servers, so nobody can enjoy it, but at Nintendo's E3 site, they say that they'll have live coverage of the press conference.
A simple answer. Go find the nearest bridge or cliff, take your entire fucktarded family, and have everyone including yourself jump off to take your entire god damned lineage out of the fucking gene pool.
GO AHEAD! FUCKING FLAME AWAY 0R WASTE YOUR GOD-DAMNED MOD POINTS FUCKTARDED SHITD0T SHEEPLE!
GameTrailers is the only place worth going for game videos. no 320x240 crappy encoding, they have all of the good videos, and if they don't have a specific video, they have a large community that can post any videos into their 'gametrailers tv' area...
