A blue post on the WoW forums shows that blizzard's official stance on player aversion to the Armory will be addressed by adding a new item, the Tinfoil Hat. "While the Tinfoil Hat provides the wearer with added protection against mind control and other befuddlements, the hat's most interesting and truly unique property is that it completely removes the wearer's character profile from the Armory website and provides enhanced privacy for its wearer!"
And cast +5, Insightful.
major league baseball is watching you /dance!
Particles, stuff that matters.
I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...?
Man I am really looking to the new WoW sequal, WHoA!
And if you go to their forums you'll see everyone is posting "blue" except the CMs which are all level 1 trolls :)
getting tired. That's all.
...can it help me to escape this April Fools Day curse that seems to be cast upon us everywhere?
While I don't like the game very much, I do think WoW has done a fantastic job of bringing RPGs to the masses.
I play D&D at the food court of the local mall with a few other nerds. We have a great time, but we used to have to put up with snide comments from passersby quite often. I remember one time when a group of punks walking by us called us a group of "dice-rolling faggots" and other nasty terms. We'd usually just ignore them, but it was obvious to us that the public at large did not take kindly to RPG'ing.
But that's changing now. We sometimes have people coming up to us, asking to watch us play D&D. They usually say they've gotten into RPG'ing due to WoW. Sometimes people want to join us, but we usually just prefer to play by ourselves. Regardless, the attitude of most people to our kind is becoming far more positive, and that's a glorious thing.
You sir are the grinch of fun day. I have the perfect idea for an outfit that you could wear, and while IAMACD (I am not a Costume Designer) I'm sure your giant hemorrhoid will simply dazzle.
Seriously, all this April 1 faux-story crap is neither amusing nor interesting. What's the fucking point?
The real question is how the hell so many of you have the time to complain about it. You know it's going to continue. You know when it will stop.
Here's a change for April Fool's day, Go outside!

I got fooled. I was excited for a minute.
Agreed. It's much more fun when there's just a bunch of regular stories and one subtle april fools story. This isn't funny, reading slashdot today is useless instead of interesting.
My favourite thing about the April 1st posts every year, is reading the commens, and seeing that there is always a solid 10% minority who bitch about the April 1st posts.
It has become a Slashdot tradition to have the day filled with bogus stories designed to amuse, and for the most part, they seem to succeed.
If this doesn't appeal to you, I might suggest going somewhere else for your serious tech news for the day?

WoW does have real items such as "The Unstoppable Force" (a wicked-looking hammer/mace/scythe thing), and its companion, "The Stoppable Force" (a simple wooden mallet). It also has, I'm told, items which you can fish up which turn you into a ninja or a pirate.
So, this Tinfoil Hat item would not be entirely out of character for them, either as an April 1 joke, or as an actual, real improvement to the game.
Don't thank God, thank a doctor!
Some of us work for tech support, and today is Sunday during the day time.
That would be derelition of duty.
Fool me once shame on me. Fool me twice shame on you.
"When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty."
They are using inferior tin instead of aluminum. And one of the photos clearly demonstrates that it's a rip off of my Pet Foil Hat Technology.
Judge for yourself.
Saskboy's blog is good. 9 out of 10 dentists agree.
Equip: Allows the wearer to see "the truth." May lead to an incontrollable urge to share "the truth" with others.
Use: Grants the wearer immunity to all forms of mind control for the next 10 sec...or does it?
"On behalf of the International Gnomish Conspiracy, I've got to inform you that we're almost out of tinfoil."
Requires Tin Bar (99), Fused Wiring (4), Troll Tears (8), Heavy Leather (4), Star Ruby I'd like one just for the joke value, but that's going to be too expensive to buy in the AH. Bummer.
If you cut holes in your tin foil hat so your pony's ears fit through, does it lessen the effect? I wouldn't want Stardust to be turned into a Government sleeper agent.
Ponies of Death - OMG!1! too scary!

I only come to slashdot to complain. This is the one day a year I get to complain about the stupidness of of having 100% intentionally bogus content, rather than my usual complaint, which is about the 15% unintentional bogus content. Really, it's all just complaining about the chimps they have as "editors". Dupes, blatant astroturfing, misleading titles... good thing they don't pay these guys for this, right?
If a job's not worth doing, it's not worth doing right.
The screenshots and their captions are... interesting.
Tonight, we dine in Hellfire Peninsula!

Oh yeah I am out of mod points so those of you that have any left mod this as insightful.
IF you can't be famous be infamous. But for GODS sake be something
So I looked at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/items/tinfoilh at.xml, and I have to say, the page is clearly fake. I mean, come on, CLOTH armor? Everyone knows that the tinfoil hat is plate, or at the very least chainmail.
Did anyone else notice that their tinfoil hat-wearing avatar is named Dogen? Psychonauts FTW!
I know, it's stupid. I know...
but I thought it was funny to sort of go along with this announcement.

So do you yell at your kids for making a noise while unwrapping their Xmas presents too?
I had a friend play a Gnome who had a Mechanical Squirrel as a Warlock pet - he was an engineer.
Well, when he put on the Tin Foil Hat, the Mechanical Squirrel went all haywire and started chattering on about "Coffee! Must have Coffee!" and other such things.
So, don't use both.
