Last Chance to Enter For Slashdot Anniversary Party Grand Prize
Today is your last chance to enter the Slashdot 10-Year Anniversary party contest. All you need to do is send pictures, videos, or whatever party evidence you can email to anniversary at slashdot dot org. The winner will be whoever sends the things that make their party look the coolest, the most nerdish etc. We've seen signs, games, etc so far... and of course, the winner gets $1k at ThinkGeek. Both the Ann Arbor and Silicon Valley parties were great. Much alcohol consumed. Old friends chatted with. New friends met. I hope many of you around the net got your t-shirts and had good times.

In other news, I may have already won the Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes, but probably not.

I know the logistics might be a bit hard, but next time can different sized shirts be included -- pretty please? XL is a tad much, even in a shrinkable cotton shirt. Trying to make a size Small out of an XL is a tad hard, even for the fabrically-inclined.
Just a quick note to the New York City party attendees - opencity did finally receive the swag meant for us. I imagine plans for the inevitable manhunt are forthcoming.

We ended up with about a dozen people. T-shirts were late but we're thankful for them. They were handed out to LUG members that have Slashdot IDs. About half the geeks watched Transformers on the big screen and the other half played pool while all consumed massive quantities of snacks and caffeine. Thanks SlashCrew!

What happened with the t-shirts that were supposed to be handed out at the Toronto, Ontario gathering?
Around 55 disappointed people showed up. Fortunately, though, moods quickly changed when we realized that the beer was cheap and, especially, the bar had WiFi!
(I have not seen the t-shirts on eBay yet, but I am guessing it is just a matter of time before the local organizer loses his patience and starts selling them.)
(psst... If the organizer is reading this... meet me behind Eaton Center (near Yonge and Dundas, opposite the court house and City Hall, where most of the corruption happens), and I will give you $50 CDN for some of that sweet t-shirt.)
Five of us actually showed up. We've actually received our t-shirts now (and we're working to schedule another get-together for the near-future for everyone to actually collect said shirts). Sadly, our reality wasn't nearly as nerdy: no signs, no "special t-shirts," not even a laptop-based OS-Showdown. The nerdiest thing at the table was either my camera or shinyhat's iPhone.
His sticker said "Beef Cake" and he wore it on his back.

I sent in a photo submission, but never heard back. Should I assume the best, or worst?
Here in Central VT we had about 15 to 20 people show. We had a cake and poster and some brief presentations, lots of discussion... we retired to the local brewpub after the initial party and sat around drinking and talking about nerdy stuff until about 10:30pm... with the party starting at 6:30, that's not bad. T-shrits arrived late, but I won't complain about free schwag! We are going to use it to convince people to do awesome presentations at the monthly VAGUE meetings... do a good presentation, get a free T-shirt! Works out great for the organizers, the presenters, and the public!

The Philadelphia party was great, around 25 people came. I got rid of all the tshirts and even got one from timothy.
The winner of the evening's contest for lowest slashdot ID was RZG, who received 2 free passes to a local strip club. much fun was had, and I have a gallery set up with pictures I took.
About 20-25 people showed up, got their /. teeshirts, and several good pints.
It was right next to World Series stadium, though that wasnt a game night.

Well, I live in Colombia, South America, and we managed to get two, TWO, YES TWO PEOPLE IN COLOMBIA WHO READ SLASHDOT!!! So, taking the context into consideration, our party was a complete success as I was not expecting to find another Slashdot reader here (BTW, our party was just having a coffee, after all we have a great coffee, and a couple of beers) :-)

Well, we only had three people show up, so it was much smaller than the dozen that said they were going to.
Of course, nobody popped an email to me, so I couldn't send them reminders (none of the folks have visible
emails in their profiles) so, what do ya do?
We didn't get the swag until a week after the party, although it did arrive via two-day air.
Interesting that.
But we had fun, and drank good beer and ate good pizza, and swapped some fun stories.
Really, it was all about the beer and pizza, and that made it a win.

Quite a few people showed up for the size of the town (at least 20). Zonk was hosting and was very friendly, got to talk about games with him for a bit. He brought plenty of t-shirts for everybody and some thinkgeek catalogs to hand out. I couldn't stay for very long but it was fun while I was there.
I thought this place would be a sports bar associated with Arsenal F.C. but see it was the site of a spanish colonial arsenal. Interesting history...

Last time I checked we were supposedly going to have the second biggest gathering outside North America, with 31 acceptances.
The eight of us who actually turned up on the right night had an enjoyable evening, albeit with far too much cake.

Getting a bunch of geeks together and awarding a prize for "coolest party" is like getting a bunch of golden retrievers together and offering a reward for "best haiku"...

Ok we hosted a party in Bogota with the amazing figure of 2 (that's two) attendees, had some beers and empanadas.
We haven't found a link or address to send the pictures but I guess I'll just post the URL for everybody to see, hope it counts for the contest.
OK I'll feel like cheating if I don't say this: The cake is fake just a masterpiece of photoshop art.

Down here in sunny Florida we had a great time. Everyone who signed up , showed up, and the party ran on for 2 hours past the scheduled end time. I got to meet another female /. member and actually our uid's were lower than most of them menfolk there. My guess is we definatly had the largest percentage of female slashdotters at a party.
We cooked out and I made brownies for dessert. We basically sat around eating and talking about slashdot, Gnu/Linux, RMS, Microsoft , Google and weapons. (not necessarily in that order)
While we won't be winning any prizes for coolest party it was a great idea and got us out from behind our screens and meeting face to face. A strange and wondrous new experience for us.
I set up a party at "San Jose 5" bar in Buenos Aires. But the place was closed. So I end up alone:

It was a good time in Colorado Springs, with new faces and familiar ones. Not everyone who signed up showed up, but about 10 of us kept the geek fire burning. Lots o games, geek trivia, geeky prizes (my comp since no /. schwag showed) and a darn good bartender. We may spin off a semi-regular geek-in to welcome those who were interested but couldn't attend. Slashdot gets a good start on the next 10!
I too hosted a party and never heard from anybody at Slashdot. We had person show up who I think was there primarily for the free stuff. The rest of us just looked at it as a chance to get out and have a couple of brews.
Thanks to Vinz, we had a reasonably good party. Drinking Guinness in an Irish pub, a few attempts at video gaming with a wii, a nice dinner in a good restaurant, then attempts to get some classy photos of Paris with the slashdot logo. Much comparing of geekiness, what techie universes we travel in, a DSW of who has used computers the longest, and generally a good time had by all.

Only 8 of the 18 who signed up managed to make it. There was a serious transport strike during the first attempt at a party, as well as competing with crowds of drunken Rugby fans for space in an Irish pub. So the Paris party was delayed one week which cost us in participation. But I also know several
