SlashTweaks Let YOU Micro-Edit Slashdot
Here at Slashdot, we watched as Twitter
distilled

minimalized
trivialized
discourse to just the perfect 140 characters, while
kuro5hin

WSJ
showed us that everyone's voice mattered equally when creating the

you will be presented with several opportunities to make micro-edits: ranging from factual errors or tonal shifts to simple typos.
Since Tweaks are just a single word, there is very little barrier to entry... you have no excuse not to participate. Stories will incorporate the highest rated

Can we have this on comments too ?
Everything I write is lies, read between the lines.
Surely the editors have been using this feature all along?
Nowhere near as funny as ChatRoulette.
Finally had enough. Come see us over at https://soylentnews.org/
While we're at it, can we get an option to remove all the hyperlinks from summaries? None of us follow them anyway and they tend to distract from the flaming.
April Fool - what part of the world is /. base in, where it's only just turned April 1st? Somewhere in Russia maybe? Or possibly Fiji? I've been waiting 13 hours for this to happen.
Can {we/you/me/us} have {this/that/the other} on {comments/replies/trolls/pron} too? {No/No/Certainly Not} {./!/?/oneoneone}
The best April fools jokes I've seen so far today are the Canterbury Distribution and the ThinkGeek "Apple Store" Playmobil set, and the ThinkGeek "Lightsaber Popsicle"
Just close enough to reality to catch you unawares.

BMO - OMG PONIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Escher was the first MC and Giger invented the HR department.
I only wish the most recent redesign was the april fool joke.
Kwisatz Haderach
Sell the spice to CHOAM
This Mahdi took Shaddam's Throne
That's often what happens with April Fools jokes. Most are silly, but some are silly enough that they actually raise a point.
I'm just worried that the one I'll be posting in a few hours on @climagic will not end up with someone patching the source to accomplish such a thing.
Turd polishing is a time honoured tradition in software development.
In soviet Russia, Slashdot microedits/goatse's/karmawhores/grits YOU!
~men are from earth. women are from earth. deal with it.~
At least Taco remembered some of the old school Slashdot. Props to the natalieportman and grits mention.
I'm sure "SlashdotMedia" will improve on all the wonders that Dice Holdings blessed us all with
>but some are silly enough that they actually raise a point.
Like OMG Ponies!
Climate Progress - Hell and High Water
If the summaries were more accurate and fact-checked, the discussion could start on the topic. But since we often times get wrong statements, opinions are raised based on the wrong assumptions, those have to be refuted and checked etc. etc.
I think better summaries would start better discussions.
NB: The message above might reflect my opinion right now, but not necessarily tomorrow or next year.
A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.
WINNING!
In a strange, altered mindset way I miss OMG Ponies. Nothing said April First like a pink tech web site. Now it is just bland articles we have to guess as to real or fake. I guess there can be only one Pony moment.
Life is a great ride, the vehicle doesn't matter
I'd be a lot more concerned that I can't click on links in threaded posts because the site now wants to just open every post in the thread above it first
You have that problem, too? I thought it was because I was working on a system with limited tech in it. When I moderate, I click on the dropdown, but suddenly my screen shifts above as the parent post is expanded. So I scroll down, click the dropdown again, but suddenly my screen shifts above as the GP post is expanded. So I scroll down, click the dropdown again, but suddenly... until it has expanded the entire thread and I can then finally make my choice.
Can I get a +5 funny please.
I sure hope so.
Can I get a +2 Troll?
Boot Windows, Linux, and ESX over the network for free.
they weren't Ponies, just under-privileged horses that didn't get proper nutrition while growing up in the inner-stables
rewriting history since 2109
Can I get a [ham and swiss on Rye, light on the mustard]?
I tried to think of a good sig, and this wasn't it.
Oveur: "Give me Hamm on five; hold the Mayo!"
Why, without your clothes, you're naked, Miss Dudley!
Agreed. I have come to Slashdot every April first hoping to have the return of the OMG Ponies. It was legendary.
While I have too high a number to attempt to discuss how the level of discourse has fallen around here, the number of joke articles on April 1 has truly sucked. I'll take a couple GOOD joke articles but that's it.
I call it 'The Aristocrats'
Absolutely, that one was the best April Fools of all times IMHO.
I actually like April Fools.
Mark Slashdot as untrusted in NoScript. Switch your user preferences to the Classic Discussion System. /. becomes usable again.
Give me Classic Slashdot or give me death!
Cannot believe I forgot the date.
" The KISS principle applie shere."
rock and roll all night and party everyday? I couldn't agree more.
The Kruger Dunning explains most post on
No, you have to turn them all pink to get a pony.
then I can wait a day for sanity to return to my reality. If not, I'm more than disappointed.
You know just how frakking messed up micro-editing is, right? It renders your RSS feed unreadable.
And then there's the complete devastation of IE7 users. I'm stuck with this at work. Browser snobbery is counterproductive, even if there are security issues, which my corporate security has so far solved so well that IE7 doesn't work here any more. More pus.
Slashdot code is not getting better. Hopefully this is part of a cycle of break/fix.
deleting the extra space after periods so i can stay relevant, yeah.
Well, at least someone should be editing slashdot. Even if it's only pretend.
Did someone say ponies? OMG I love ponies!
OMG Ponies!
I never get used to these constant resurrections
