Remote Island Adopts Dothraki Language
An anonymous reader writes "The tiny island of Tristan da Cunha is officially the most remote inhabited archipelago in the world with few connections to the outside and access only by sea when the notoriously stormy south Atlantic co-operates which is not often. Entertainment options are limited and LARPing in Game of Thrones style has become massively popular, so much so that the islanders have declared Dothraki to be an official language, alongside English."
You mean this article isn't already in the Dothraki Language?
Enough with the fucking retarded ROT13 shite, turn it ff already.
To do something right, you often have to roll up your sleeves and get busy.
"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!"
"Flyin' in just a sweet place,
Never been known to fail..."
I for one would welcome a Dothraki invasion by those islanders. I look forward to shivering at the mere mention of our name, looting, pillaging and wreaking havoc. As long as I'm back home in time to watch the next Game of Thrones episode, that is.
If sites like Hacker News are taking off, it's cause editors of /. don't understand their readers.
This gag was barely funny the first time. Now it just reminds me what a sad fossil this site is.
Everyone knows that the Dothraki horselords fear the ocean.
The remote island they are referring to is Staten Island.
And they adopted it before A Game of Thrones was written which is weird.
Screw this. I liked the OMG!111!! PONIES!!!111 joke from a few years ago better.
I can't wait for this day to be over!
I'm pretty sure it's an elaborate insult.

The ROT13 thing was funny once. It is now just irritating.
Please stop being such stupid unfunny fuckwits.
It's already April 2nd here in Linland.
Escher was the first MC and Giger invented the HR department.
I like the humorous stories, but clicking 3 times to get to them has to go. Kill the ROT13 part..... I guess i need to stay away until tomorrow.
Please... this has been the absolute *worst* Slashdot April Fools ever. Put a bullet in it.
It's a news site! Bite me!!!!! I may or may not check back tomorrow!!!! What is it with everyone trying to piss off users????? It's not cute it's childish! Here's an April 2nd joke I can suggest for all users, DON'T LOG ON!
This island, and the "nearby" St Helena, are interesting places.
One of my colleagues is from St Helena, population about 4000. She grew up on the island, and remoteness and cost of travel is so high that the first time she ever left it was age 18, to attend university in the UK. Both island groups are UK overseas territories, and receive British TV, news etc, but I'm not sure that's much preparation for actually living in a country where we call a settlement of 4000 people a "village".
There remoteness also gives them unique flora and fauna
OMG! Ponies! is still the best April Fools Slashdot has ever done. I do wish they would at least repeat it.

I only keep up with Slashdot via the RSS feed.
The stupid decision to ROT13 everything as a joke (which has gone on far too long anyway), makes the RSS feed entirely unusable. It basically makes my decision much easier - I'll unsubscribe from the RSS feed. Which basically means I'll see articles / visit this site way, way less frequently in the future.
Was this supposed to be funny? I thought it was April Fools' Day, not April Annoying Stupid Shit Day (AASS Day).
This is a hacked account, for which the owner can not be held responsible.
So normally this site is serious? Holy shit.

...that most nerds can still only enjoy a joke if it's played on somebody else. It must be scarring from high school. Somebody call the Wahmbulance.
...we don't allow them to have ships.
I've fallen off your lawn, and I can't get up.

"they have taken to large scale LARPing across the entire archipelago with pretty much the entire population taking part."
Until this very moment, I never thought I could use the word "LARP" and "cool" in the same sentence, but this sounds pretty cool.
Skype is too convoluted... Now I'm reverse-engineering the Kyoto Protocol.
