Special on Ultimate Play The Game, now Rare
Jonathon Miller
writes "Nintendorks
has posted a huge special
about Rare, the software company that brought us Goldeneye
for the Nintendo 64. The special outlines Rare's release
list for '99, including their sequel to Goldeneye, the first
person shooter Perfect Dark." For those of you who had
an old 8-bitter (ZX Spectrum, BBC,etc) this is also a blast from the past:
Rare used to be called Ultimate Play the Game, makers of Alien 8,
Nightshade, etc... the only games I still play.
Can I just be really pedantic and say
Ultimate - Play the Game
was the companys slogan/logo.
The company was actually Ashby computers and
graphics. Based near Ashby-de-la-zouch.
No wonder you never found it, the truck/trailer didn't exist. A hoax, I'm afraid!

Hmmm,
No coding, nothing really of interest except to people playing N64. Looks like someone is just trying to promote their own interests.
I generally disagree with people complaining about sengan's editorials, but in this case that's all it is.

And if you thought for one moment I was serious, you need to wake up.
So someone is spamming the linux kernel mailing list as meept?
Meept says that it isn't meept, as meept wouldn't go near that list without a condom.
However, anything that upsets meept's student linux friends is to be encouraged.
Ho! Ho! Ho! This is better than Elvis.
MEEPT!!
My little bro has a N64 and I tried playing him once @ goldeneye, the problems I forsee: A) No-fun Physics Engine (Can't jump, can't run, can't go off platforms) B) Crappy 4 color Textures C) Too Bright D) Levels are too square (reminds me of Wolf3D) E) Can't control anything with that FSCKING claw of d00m they are marketing as a controller F) No Chainsaw...
Strangely enough, it was apparently produced before Sabre Wulf, but was regarded as being too far ahead to be released!
I for one bought every game from Ultimate up until Nightshade, which was crap compared to Knight lore, which also beat Alien 8 (too slow).
