Lastly, another reminder to go to the User Account
page and edit your preferences. Slashdot article filtering
should be working. More coming tomorrow, assuming this
stuff works as advertised.
Now, was that so difficult?
Wow, what a bizzare site... But I like it. The images are really cool, too. How were they generated? Some of them look like photos of molecules taken through a microscope, some just look like someone spent entirely too much time fiddling with really nifty filters and stuff. It's really sort of mind-boggling...

wterm works well in WindowMaker.
It has pseudo-transparency.
I "flood" my desktop with a borderless transparent wterm. It hogs resources - but not much IMHO.
Too bad no shading though.
Maybe a new version has it?

No way! I love that game. I spend more time than I care to admit, "sinning".

How about "do unto others, as you would have done unto you?", you know, the one good phrase in the bible that many christians just don't seem to get. After all, how would you like it if I posted something like "Satan Saves: Molest a Small Child today" on slashdot?
You'd be outraged, right?

Do not give in to the urge to purchase action figures of myself and the apostles. For, I am not getting any royalties, and my lawyer is calling them tomorrow!

This would be much more fitting as your webpage.

I never thought Linus could be photographed with ordinary mortals like that. Don't you have to be transcended to see Linus in person or something? And then you can't return to Earth.
eh, i thought you were pretty far away from san jose. I did end up buying a t-shirt at the booth, and I believe i purchased it from the fellow with the rather large cheeks. ;)
When you change your "signature", it changes retroactively! That's bizarre.

Yeah, no kidding.. now no one will be able to use the excuse "i hate seeing this crap on Slashdot so i submit flamebait" when they dont enjoy the articles... maybe the KDE and Gnome crowds will mutually exclude each other, as maybe all those ready to jump on any non-Linux OS story or editorial will exclude the BeOS and FreeBSD threads.
I personally wanna read every article on Slashdot... I mean, jeez, does it REALLY take that much time or energy to read an extra 200 words?

Hey, not only that, but Mary, David and the Angel are blonde! And everybody is caucasian! And Job and David are wearing PANTS which I thought happened in the middle ages (at least in europe).
And you have to love Job's "Festering Open Wound Action". Get that man some Neosporin, stat!

It's pretty nifty what one can accomplish with perl. Good job rob it's pretty spiffy.
I for one don't really use it, mostly because I don't want to exclude ANYTHING slashdot carries, but it's very cool to be able to do that type of thing.
What would be interesting to me is to get stats later on to see how many people excluded Jon Katz articles. I certainly didn't, and I'd love to see how many people that act like they hate him actually go through with it. After all, if they excluded him, they wouldn't have anything to bitch about, right? They're not going to do it IMHO.

Propognda really is absurd, but it isn't really funny either. Just kinda flaky. Just my 2 cents.
the backgrounds are cool, though.

I'm surprised nobody thought of making RMS (Richard Stallman) action figures given his extremely devoted FSF followers.
---
The reason someone else allows him to be here may be to elicit flames but I suspect his own reason may have something to do with his next book (as mentioned on C-SPAN)which is going to be about the rise of geekdom.
In that same interview he mentioned that many of the fans of "Running to the Mountain" thanked him for making it short. My sides ached for the next two days.
I see even classic Slashdot is now pretty much unusable on dial up anymore.
Is it just me or does that look like the Kenobi figure with a different head, in which case I can just swap parts on my nephew's ridiculously large collection.

my guess is it was the severed human arm lost in a tug-of-war contest
... and missing.
a local Tampa radio station has been posting all sorts of strange items (eg, 1lb anthrax, severed human head) Today they finally got the email from ebay saying that they are prohibited from posting more items. They just may post more anyway. Can anyone verify if it was the arm?

The "Adam" action figure has a navel.
I'm going to bed now.
Use enlightenment and eterms. Actually, you can just set the root image with esetroot (which comes with enlightement. You don't actually have to use that as you wm). You can then use etrm --translucent 50 (or something like that). It's pretty but resource intensive, so I can't imagine anyone using it all the time.
Okay... you idiots all managed to slashdot eBay?! Wow.

When I choose "flat" in preferences (as apposed to threaded) would that then display all comments in flat mode? It seems intuitive, but it's not working.

Actually, it turned out to be a RTFM thing on my part. *heh*

Nope, the item's not found. Ebay must have deleted it sometime.
