Note to self...hot pockets and cheetos flavored lube!
I am not an avid gamer, but I do occasionally play games. I will never drop $60 on a new game, and I won't go to Gamestop to spend $50 on a used one. What I will do, however is occasionally troll garage sales, and Amazon for interesting looking games. I bought the Force Unleashed I and II for $8 total a few weeks ago. If Microsoft's new system were in place, I never could have done that.
I'm simply restating what was told to me by the Verizon customer service rep I talked to. In practice maybe they don't drop you, but they are legally allowed to.
I was looking closely at their month-to-month offerings, but their Android devices were all neutered versions of the contract versions. There is a lengthy process of converting an S4 or HTC One into a month-to-month phone but it requires a sacrificial lamb (a month-to-month device) and if Verizon catches wind of your rooting, you'll be dropped like a call on Sprint and be out the cash you spent on both devices.
I'm sticking with T-Mobile and my Nexus 4. HSPA is fast enough for my remote browsing needs and in most places I'm surrounded by WiFi anyway. I admit that they're not the most reliable or the fastest, but they are the most consumer friendly.
barron
Barron is a city in Barron County (of which it is the county seat), in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 3,248 at the 2000 census. The city is located within the Town of Barron.
The problem is that so long as you like vegetables and meat, somebody is going to have to live out there. Are you really saying that we should relegate our food growers to dial-up speeds?
Yup, I'm on the same 1.5 Mbps, I've been on for years. It just costs more now. This guy needs a lashing.
Yeah, this guy is totally wrong because [insert my own personal anecdote here] !!!
The issue is that all of these personal anecdotes add up to a disturbing picture. I consider myself extremely lucky to be on 50Mbps for $60/mo with Charter on the West Coast. I've already come to terms with the fact that when I move next, it will likely be to a much worse service provider. Kinda funny how all of the free-market lovers refuse to break up these telecom monopolies, or at the very least regulate them into being dumb pipes.
For the record, I read Ender's Game in middle school and enjoyed it. I wasn't a big fan of any of the sequels, but that's neither here nor there. You're right, there are plenty of options to read/watch without necessarily supporting the artist. I may take advantage of these routes, but Card can rest assured he won't be seeing a dime from me.
Reading Nietzsche (as opposed to most sophomoric interpretations of him) doesn't encourage him to write more. Purchasing books from Card means my money will help in a bigoted crusade against a people that makes him feel funny inside. The funniest part is how Ender's Game was disallowed from a middle school for being too homoerotic. Methinks he doth protest too much.
Hell, I've done everything that I can do to help. I've ran for office (won the primary but lost the general for US House), I vote every election and try to be as active as possible. The truth of the matter is that the asshats in office right now represent us, and when they pull these moves and still get reelected it shows that we as a society are giving them our tacit approval.
Ok, I'll take the bait. How in the hell is JavaScript *not* a programming language?
1. It is a language
2. I write programs with it
There isn't enough snarky elitism associated with it yet for it to be a "real" programming language. As soon as you can get to the state of natural obfuscation that Perl enjoys, you'll see an uptake with the true nerds.
Not only this (but please mod up anyway!), but as far as I know MariaDB is compatible with plugins designed for a comparable version of MySQL. At least for my Django and PHP work this holds true. I mean, isn't this the reason most developers abstract the database library anyway?
The point is that my phone is what acts as the brains of the device. The glass is what lets you interact with it without looking down and fiddling with a phone. I was able to solve my problem by using the tools on hand, the glass simply would have streamlined the effort.
I'm a bit late to the party, but I wanted to give a virtual (no mod points today) vote up. Sometimes/. makes me sad when unimaginative people can't figure out what new and exciting things upcoming technology will enable us to do. One addendum to your list. I was stuck in Israel a few weeks ago and almost missed my ride out because I can't read Hebrew and there wasn't an English translation on the subway, I remember thinking how much I would have given for a pair of Google Glasses with an instant translation instead of digging out my smartphone, downloading a Hebrew keyboard, and manually inputting everything.

Two words...Faraday Cage
A prime example of how current IP law and mentality have hindered usefulness and innovation of technology.
Hopefully this will serve as a wake-up call to much needed IP law reform.
This is nothing more than a slap in the face of Capitalism. I say let the free market decide who lives and who dies!
Wrong dude, this is something every liberal green freak can believe in trust me. Go global warming do goobers.
Aww...somebody got lost on the way to Fox News.

Thanks, google definitions.
They are renowned for the fleet of airships.
e.g. not everyone can pick from 4 different broadband providers as I can (Google Fiber, Surewest, AT&T, Time Warner).
Technically I guess that's a choice...but most geeks I know would give up their girlfriend in Canada to have Google Fiber.

Meh, don't care in the slightest. But please, feel free to support Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh as well.
What a moronic argument, Nietzsche fucked some animal in a street, does that mean we should disregard him as a philosopher?
Umm...yes
With Orson Scott Card's emphatically homophobic world view, I refuse to help finance any of his works.
20.0 on vanilla Debian (XFCE) and it was choppy until I went to full screen...then smooth as butter. Very impressive.

Somehow, i suspect British Telecom was smart enough to get the US version of this patent, and software patents are fair game in the US.
Once again (from an embarrassed American), apologies for that...
I didn't know Monster Cable made Pringles!
They didn't get rich by writing a lot of checks!
Buy 'em out, boys!
