  1. Why not encrypt only the files you need secured? on Why Not Use Full Disk Encryption on Laptops? · · Score: -1

Why encrypt the whole disk when you can reduce the performance loss by only encrypting a portion of the disk. Better yet, choose a single folder and encrypt it and all the sub folders beneath it. Only store your data in those folders. This way your swap file isn't affected and performance is maintained. Works for me!

It wouldn't suprise me at all if North Korea never actually detonated a nucelar weapon. They probably used conventional weapons in a weak attempt to fool the world and provoke direct talks with the U.S. Regardless, that's a situation that definitely needs to be dealt with swiftly!

As long as they don't capture any data such as credit card information, etc. it should be o.k. It is actually a benefit to capture user data in order to accurately chart trends and provide statistics which otherwise might not be possible. It's relatively harmless in my option.

Wow! That was one heck of a response from an Anonymous Coward. I almost dropped my steak burger and beer! First of all you spelled Iraq incorrectly. It's Iraq not Irak. That aside, I didn't mean to start a whole big discussion about how France s*cks and how bad the U.S. can be on foreign policy at times. We all know we've made some mistakes. We also know that we liberated France and other countries during World War II amongst other wars. France owes us big time and nobody there will ever admit it. I was recently in Paris during March of this year and can honestly say that myself and my family have never been treated in a more rude and inconsiderate manner, ever. Period. And that was just the airport. The staff of Air France in the airport can kiss my as*! They completed ignored us when we were speaking to them as if we were not standing in front of them. F*ck them. If they didn't have a military presence in the airport at the time I would have given them the severe smackdown that they deserved. It's all they seem to understand. The French hate Americans with a vengeance and I don't know why. I always gave them the benefit of the doubt until I visited them for myself. Big mistake. Not all French people are bad. I'm sure there are a few nice people around somewhere over there. We have friends who live in France and they're great. France: Nice place to visit? But I wouldn't want to live there. Now, back to my steakburger and beer. Oh yeah, let me grab the remote control for the big screen. USA!,USA!,USA! Yeeee Hawww...

Leave it to the French. Now why would they have to operate at zero gravity? To see the guys blood floating through the air? I think they would be better off trying to design an environment that simulates gravity in space to make the operation more stable rather than learn to operate in a non gravity environment. Glad I'm not that patient!

They shouldn't be so worried about that list. That list simply protects the students who wrote the original papers in teh first place, however it is very possible to write a new, original composition with the same title as a previously written paper. If that happens that may incorrectly flag the student as a cheater even though they wrote an original paper. o.k. kill the list, it's a stupid idea...

  12. iTunes is a Joke! on iPod Users Buy CDs, Shun iTunes · · Score: 1

I recently had a client in which I had to export songs from their iTunes to use in an Adobe Elements slide show. Why did they call me to do this you ask? Because iTunes is a pain in the arse! They make it extremely difficult for the average user to export an mp3 from iTunes. In fact they do not allow you to export protected mp3's period. If you are paying to download the songs you sure as hell should be able to use them any way you want to. (Within legal boundaries that is.) I had to use a 2 step process to extract the songs and convert them to an mp3. What a joke. "Very disappointing software iTunes it is." 13. Plastic Batteries That Last 100x Longer? on Plastic Batteries Coming Soon? · · Score: 1

Yeah I can see it now. Duracell will roll out a new plastic battery that lasts 100x longer then their standard batteries so in turn consumers will need to buy Duracell batteries less often. This in turn will drive their profits down due to slower sales. Yep. I'm sure they'll get right on that. Then they can start work on their line of nuclear batteries which never need replacement or recharging. Sounds like a plan.
