Amen, brotha. I had Comcast for 7 months after moving to my current apartment (about 14 months ago). My bittorrent performance was always terrible and would spike then drop off for no reason. I tried every network configuration that I could come up with and nothing worked. I assumed either there was something throwing off communication inside my local cable hardware, or Comcast was screwing with things as it passed through their side. I finally switched to a fast DSL connection, and with virtually the same network configuration, my bittorrent performance is awesome.
Not only did their internet service suck, their TV cable hardware was crap, too.
Unfortunately, the most popular opinion is often the one which is screamed the loudest. Just so happens that Greenpeace has a pretty good set of lungs (read: PR machine.)
Bull. Apple isn't wasting their time looking for pirated copies of the OS during service. PLEASE cite an example of someone being turned away for having an illegitimate copy of the OS. For that example, please cite a way of determining what is a pirated copy of the installed OS.
"I don't like your grades, you can't have a game!"
"I don't like your business practice, you can't have a job!"
There's always somebody one rung up the ladder from you.
Social responsibility? You think Apple is trying to free us from our phone overlords by giving us the iPhone? Listen. iPhone is cool, and I don't really think it's prohibitively priced or overpriced by much. But you are truly deluding yourself if you think that Apple is more than moving product. They DO sell revolutionary stuff, they DO innovate. But they do so foremost for their own survival, not to make the world a better place. I'm a shareholder, FWIW, and I'm more than happy with that attitude.
Microsoft can't keep people from pirating its own software, that is, obtaining and using without paying.
Now suddenly they expect to collect money from somewhere (somewhere) when the SOURCE CODE for all of these supposed copyright violations is in the hands of the end-user?
Honestly, I have not seen this much FUD come out of Redmond in quite a long time. "Open source? Didn't you hear? That's illegal now. Like sharing files with BitTorrent and owning non-Zune MP3 players."
Seriously, this guy actually reproduced with someone? He's got enough in common with another human being on this planet, and that other human being finds something about him charming enough to actually mate and reproduce? Wow.
I'm not going to make a "good/bad" judgment on the guy, but he truly seems like a weirdo. I have to imagine that he was the kid in school who the jocks didn't like and the nerds didn't like, he just sat by himself at the lunch table waiting for the day when he could be arrogant and distant without anyone talking back to him.
I don't care if dragging this trial out is costing anyone a dime at this point, I'm more than happy to chip in to keep up such entertainment. This would make a great Thursday night sitcom or something; in fact, I'm going to go make some popcorn and come back and search Slash for 'SCO'. No TV tonight!
They should bring back Matlock and start basing episodes around the RIAA trials.
Then we could have IANALBIWALOML:
I Am Not A Lawyer But I Watch A Lot Of MatLock.
Even if that's not the most accurate portrayal of Zuckerwhosit's psyche, it is nice to think of the sonofabitch in that light. :-)

...everything is peachy! Now THAT is backward compatibility!

>American SUV stupidity just makes me want to bash my head against a wall. Go for it! (*But your points are valid...)
