I did however have a significant delay while doing the install on my iMac. It took about 30-45 minutes once the install application said "About a minute". Other than that delay everything went perfectly smooth.
The 30 minute wait at "one minute remaining" is the archive portion of the install, if you chose it. You can watch your install logs with Command-L (or just look up at the installer menu.) This is nice to watch the actual logs of what is happening. I think it is crazy Apple decided to ignore the archive portion in the time calculation, but this works as a confirmation of what is happening. The install took much longer than I expected on my Macbook, but it was nice to watch the logs to see just what it is doing.

The funny thing is, according to the java tests through places like dslreports.com, my bandwidth is very high. Even though I pay for 3m/784 I usually see 6m/1.5 on the tests, however those tests are typically about 15s long and Comcast is probably smart enough to "shape" those to the high-end.

I'm not saying it's horrible, just that it's the the bottom rung as far as phone service, but as long as it's cheaper than a land line I will continue to happily pay the bill.

And I would really hate to see then driven out of buisness by a few jealous telcos.

Interesting... Must be something regional in your area or something with your bandwidth. Vonage is better sound quality than POTS in my area (POTS is muffled, picks up almost no high tones), I never have to reset the equipment and the only time I've gotten dropped calls is if I am uploading a large file and don't limit the upload speed.
  16. Re:As a Vonage Customer... on Vonage Goes To Court III - The AT&T Suit · · Score: 1

The only thing that interferes with my Vonage is if I am seeding a torrent at anything past 20kB/s. 768kb/s converts to roughly 96kB/s upload, so I guess (at max sound quality settings) Vonage needs a good portion of that to work with

It is the nature of the beast with shared lines though, if the guy in the apartment next to me was sharing a torrent at high bandwidth I guess I would be screwed then too.

Hence if tomorrow all the illegal sources where silenced - what we would see is not so much of a rise in sales as a drop in total consumption of a product (illegal + legal). Exactly right. Most of what is released is simply not worth the price being asked. iTunes (and others) work because we don't necessarily have to buy all the crappy songs to get the ones which are good. Also a reiteration of something posted above, if the music industry would have kept up with the digital distribution model early on, not nearly as many people would be pirating music now. Sure geeks would understand all the tools to do so, but not mainstream users. Now we're so far overboard that it's past the point of return. I'm willing to bet there is a scary amount of the population that doesn't even know a new release is out until they see it on piratebay. Thanks to the unwillingness to adapt by the industry, this is the consumer market they have created...a mass who shops on torrent sites rather than anywhere else.
