As mentioned elsewhere in this thread consider using Fail2ban which is easily configured for monitoring failed attempts at connecting to your server and can then block the IP after a configurable threshold is reached.
Can such standards defined files be copyrighted? IBM argued in its case against SCO that the Unix and Linux header files couldnâ(TM)t be copyrighted because of these issues. In the event, it was proved that Novell, and not SCO, owned Unixâ(TM)s copyrights and that issue, to the best of my knowledge, was never settled. Still, speaking for myself, it seems unlikely thereâ(TM)s any danger to Android or Android programmers from Linux header file copyrights.
The page content could be set with text that fades into view after an onload event would scans the document to see that the ad content areas have been loaded. (javascript objects present, innerHTML available or whatnot) Of course one could turn off the use of CSS to view the content but I think most would prefer not to see pages in such a naked presentation. This was just off the top of my head. I'm sure more can be done to make viewing content a pain when ads are being blocked.
Google already has a license for these patents via OIN. About Those 882 Novell Patents: This is Where OIN Comes In
Everyone can join OIN and get a license to these patents if they do so before January 23rd of next year. I highly recommend doing this since it is free to join. (as an individual, company or whatnot)
Ciao was bought by Microsoft in 2008 for nearly $500m (£324m) and is now called Ciao Bing, after Microsoft’s search engine. Foundem is a member of ICOMP, an internet pressure group which receives funding from Microsoft.
Really? As competition to Java it is fairly comparable. It has some features that, used improperly will lead to slower code (though, they are nice as a convenience), it is missing some features, has some features that Java is missing, and the free version of Visual Studios, at least in my opinion, is a nicer IDE than Eclipse, Netbeans or Anjuta. And it's not being used in a bunch of lawsuits by it's owner.
Linux isn't a company. A world with 3/3 Linux would provide you with companies competing on their services and value added options such as remote backups or such. They wouldn't be trying to get you into their walled garden so they can tell you what to do. A 3/3 Linux to me is a more ideal world. (but to each his own):)
When companies stopped manufacturing here.
Who loves boobies? (now that's pretty funny)
Most automated scans will not take the time to scan for open ports. (that I have experienced)
Also consider FTP with SSL / TLS like what can be done with vsftpd. http://vsftpd.beasts.org/

Is that somewhere in the universe the human race is on such a list as well.
Do they have a case?
This is just more FUD being generated by Microsoft's shills.
It's worse than that - he's not even a US citizen! ;)

However, it would be trivial to make sites unusable unless advertisements are enabled. This is where all of the ad blocking is leading to I think.
Isn't Flash an inefficient battery drainer like we are constantly told?
That's incorrect - Flash is very efficient at draining batteries. ;)
Microsoft has announced Ludicrous Speed!

This is just more of the same from Microsoft when trying to compete.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnmMNdiCz_s&feature=player_embedded Take a fucking chance. ;)
"Have you ever noticed that you never get laid on Thanksgiving? I think it's because all the coats are on the bed."
What are you saying? Most people on /. never get laid. (where said laying involves another human) ;)
Yet...
That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!
Perhaps that's a good place to start. (unless Adam and Jamie can build a bigger mirror) :D

You must be new here. ;)
Ahh yes - preview indeed. And it looked good until right after hitting submit. Sporadic Dyslexia perhaps? :D
Make that /. (we really could use a minute or two edit window here!)
Rub one out would have a whole new meaning for ./
I read this as "Green Martian Caused 2009 H1N1 Virus Spread".... it's been a long day I guess.
So what your saying is that you've never been surprised. :D
I wish I had some mod points - very insightful.
