So, most people who play SL are sort of acting out a fantasy they wish they could act out in real life. Some people create a female lesbian freak punk rocker nun (the real person being male) because deep down they have some twisted fantasy of being that person they created. For whatever reason, some find their own life woefully inadequate and look to fulfill that desire. SL gives them the opportunity to freely explore that.
I think here is something to be said about the mental state of someone who tries to virtually rape another character..maybe they secretly urge to do so in real life. Whatever the reason, their account should be banned (yeah they'll create another one - so ban by IP?). How long before they setup a virtual court system with a virtual judicial system that is just as F'ed up as the real life counter-part.
What an odd reply....I have never heard or seen any good teacher draw ire for being a good teacher. I still remember a handful of teachers from elementary, high school, and college. This is because they were good...i mean outstanding teachers. Anyway, your experience must be different, in that case perhaps thats your right and its just due to truly mean-spirited kids.
While I understand the need for this because of the reason you mentioned. I would highly doubt any soldier would blog away security related issues. I would give them the benefit of doubt after all I'm sure they were trained not to give any their position if need be - they are hopefully not that naive and dimwitted are they?. I believe this measure has more to do with keeping soldiers from expressing their objections to the war and voicing their displeasure at the the government etc.
Freedom of speech does not exist even for soldiers who fight to defend those principles.
We all realized where this reaction came from but the articles states the student had to take classes elsewhere. No mention of trying to seek help for the student or anything of that nature...lets just chuck him elsewhere and hope he magically gets better. How do they know if the student even poses a treat to others or himself? Nah...they don't bother with any of silliness they choose to ignore problem (if there exist one).
Well I hope this holds up, I remember reading an article in the nytimes about google's transportation system:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/10/technology/10goo gle.html?ei=5088&en=dcb412d03d29e1f6&ex=1331182800 &pagewanted=print
and in the article it states: "inside, most riders appeared to abide by the shuttle's etiquette rules. Cellphone conversations are allowed if they are work-related and sotto voce. But loud personal calls are definitely out." This reminded me of the (at the time) FCC impending decision.
Technical reasons aside, if any reason should be enough to not allow people to use cellphones on the planes it would be for courtsey and etiquette.
well at least he was man enough to own up to it (job security??)..most of us would say its a feature not a bug.
