Why buy the old games? If Nintendo is truly about pleasing the customer, they'll release an adapter to let you port your games right from the original cartridge to your Wii. The game could be verified your Wii's internet connection, and no game data would be transferred (besides release date, players, a screenshot, controls and console, for the menu view, and emulation) to prevent people finding ways to illegally download anything they want. It'd all be like ripping a CD with iTunes on a computer, except its... not.
I know I'd rather put all those NES and SNES cartridges in my basement to good use, rather than having to re-purchase everything I already own. I'm not the only one, I'm sure.
Nintendo's "Shop Channel" has so-far only shown games, and had us all waiting for the Opera browser. Why not team up with Apple, and include an iTunes application for the thing? It can't play CDs anyway...
Why doesn't Wikipedia make their own mobile? It could be updated when connected to the computer, like an iPod, and I'm sure ads for it would replace any mentionings of donations...
"the study is sure to get many parents thinking about how much time in front of the Xbox and idiot box is too much"
I don't get it. Aren't those two the exact same thing?
Nintendo has always been known for "kiddie" games. It don't get more kiddie than Disney. And if Square-Enix leaves Sony, well... where else are they gonna go? Microsoft?
Dual-Wielding Keyblades with two wiimotes? Hell, I'd be fine with the one.
1. Microsoft and Nintendo work a deal out, to buy massive amounts of PS3s.
2. With Sony out, Nintendo controls +60% of the video game market, with Microsoft at -40%
3. With Microsoft weakened by the PS3 purchases (and Nintendo unharmed, thanks to the instantprofit from Wii), Apple takes the world by storm, leaving Microsoft in the dust
4. Nintendo buys out Microsoft, creating an über-powerful Video-Game/Computer/Electronics company
5. "Nintendosoft" reclaims the throne, by monopolizing the operating system market, weakening Apple.
6. Merge with Apple into "Nintendosapple"
7. Dystopian future - All homes are watched over by giant screens, displaying Miyamoto-san 24/7. People's movements are recorded by Teeny-Tiny Wiimotes imbedded under their skin at birth. An underround society, lead by Unix and Linux users attempts to overthrow the government, and fails horribly.
From what I understand, you can get the same effect from a small motion as you can with a larger one, provided you do it right. So you can replace a large swipe, just by swinging it a few inches, while, say, sitting in your favorite armchair.
I dont think Nintendo would want to exclude players that have physical problems, and I know they wouldn't want to keep away senior citizens. After all, they're making a big deal about attracting everybody, and plenty of their videos show older people playig Wii Sports and Music.

This is the first time I've ever seen an article on Slashdot AFTER it's been reported in the morning news. I'm dissapointed.
-Mr. Burns already did that. No one liked him for it.
...yeah
-Futurama did it, too. Uh,
Maybe they should just hire on Matt Groening to NASA or something. It'd be cheaper than sending a few scientists through college.
But can it run linux?
