    Fortran!

    1) It is so easy it even tells you where on the line to write stuff, its practically fill-in-the-blank coding.
    2) A little digging will find Fortran implementations online free.
    3) Doesn't everyone have some an old mainframe in the basement that they are tired of paying that expensive consultant to maintain?
    4) Knowing Fortran, you'll never want to go back - gimme some C++, Python, Java, and Perl...

    Mmmmm Ion. If only it didn't play so poorly with KDevelop and similar lots-of-dynamic-window apps.

    I switch between WindowMaker for my dynamic-window-app stuff (like KDevelop) and Ion for my many-consoles-open-at-once system gruntwork.

    Integrate Konqueror and Mozilla???? Why? Why not just pick one and stick with it?

    I can understand wanting to integrate two dissimiler programs to get a synergistic uberdevice, but this is like combining two toaster to...toast the same amount of bread.

    So she loads OpenOffice, opens her file, saves as to a floppy in linux too? Did she learn how to mount /mnt/floppy or does she use a desktop click-and-mount gizmo of some sort?

    I'd dearly love to move my mothers machine over to a lightweight linux install - it is currently running an *original* windows 95OSR2 install...

    Well it isn't the bringers of the suits, as it says in the article one of the two guys is a patent attorney and is doing things himself, so unless he is billing himself...

    Of course if there are any countersuits things could get dicey.

    Good thing they don't have to run the film back to Earth to be developed. :)

    What I would like to see out of this is someone taking a set of these photos, along with time/position data and making some spiffy 3D models of the lander enviroment.

    If you are smart you will hook it up with the monitor cable, thus being able to play the games...and if you want to use the ps2-linux stuff, you run Xvnc...voila, high resolution desktop via your ethernet card!

    once you start it is hard to stop...

    I began by watching TV in a little window on my desktop...and now I'm scrambling to find a comp with decent CPU to run MythTV on so I can do the PVR thing - sadly my old box doesn't quite have the horsepower to do the encoding.

    But one day! One day soon!

    Well obviously - Sauron is just the trumped up lieutenant of Melkor, who got his shoddy backside kicked into the void. Cthulhu on the other hand is a freakin god, Sauron is more of an angel/demon/demigod sort.

    hey, i've used emacs, and i like it. and you're wrong in your implication here...

    emacs does just one thing...it breeds more emacsen.

    everything else is adjunct to that single primordial urge of survival - if it can edit your text or surf the web or calculate pi or play life or compile code so much the better to tempt you to make a copy of your own.
