Response: Nope. There really are people like that around here, especially in the South and the mid-West.
I've been a conservative Christian in the South (churches on every street corner) all my life, and I don't know any Christians who think like that. To be sure, there are crackpots in every niche of humanity, though.
This web site is embarrassing whether it's a hoax or not, because it fits with one of the stereotypes that non-believers have of Christians. The media loves to report quotes, dutifully taken out of context, that have been spouted by some knee-jerk, shoot-from-the-hip, camera-happy televangelist.
What if the media consistently (or even once) projected Dr. "Death" Kevorkian as a typical doctor in the medical community, or v1urU$ h4X0r$ as typical IT professionals? You'd never see that, because they are not widely respected among their peers. (This is why "peer review" is so important in the scientific community; it helps to weed out crackpots.)
But for believers in "Jeebus" -- they're fair game for mockery and wild distortions (actually, the Simpsons is pretty fair in this respect). Unfortunately, you'll never see prominent articles in the mainstream/secular news media quoting truly great pastors and evangelists who are widely respected in the Christian community, such as Ravi Zacharias, Adrian Rogers, Charles Stanley, James Dobson, and Ken Ham.
Probably all the Anonymous Cowards (the name is perfectly appropriate here) who responded to the parent post are actually the same person. Notice how all the AC posts are short, vulgar flames. Some angry troll just went on a mad astroturfing binge to prop up his own viewpoint.
This is a typical troll trick/attack. Watch for it.
Yeah, they're so smart they didn't even see evidence of a young earth smacking them in the face.
Miraculously, the blobs were the tracks left by the water scorpion, perfectly preserved as fossilised rock despite the passing of millions of years and the huge re-arrangement of Earth's surface involving massive geological forces like volcanoes and earthquakes.
Noooooo, perfectly preserved because they were made only a few thousand years ago. Perfectly preserved because powerful currents from a giant flood of biblical proportions dumped a pile of sediment on them before they could lose their shape. The process of fossilization occurs rapidly and has been observed both in the laboratory and in nature. (The motto of the linked site is: Your window into the Mesozoic. Can you see the incredible, widespread myopia of our culture?) It begins within months and is usually complete in a number of years (usually less then ten) depending on the environment. This is widely known and documented fact, not theory.
More breathless myopic statements:
Article by Jame E. Francis. "Arctic Eden," Natural History, January 1991, p.57 and 60:
"The remains of lush forests near the North Pole give a glimpse of the Arctic's subtropical past....Despite the passage of 45 million years, the wood retains its original color and is still flexible and burns easily. I quickly discovered that my geologic hammer was useless for collecting samples of the fossil wood; the next season I came better prepared with wood saws."
How do you think a magnolia leaf would change as the result of having been buried for 17-20 million years? Consider this remark from Nature, V.344, April 12, 1990, p. 587:
"When rocks containing these fossils are cleaved open, the freshly exposed leaf tissues are often bright green or 'deep autumnal' in colour, though they rapidly curl away from the substrate as they oxidize and dry out."
The author says that it was even possible to isolate the DNA of the leaves:
"But even the most optimistic estimate of the longevity of this molecule would not have predicted that fragments of substantial length would survive after tens of millions of years at the bottom of an ancient lake." (p. 587)

Any other web developers out there working for schools? You probably know what I'm talking about. I have to use FP, because the teachers need to be able to make their own classroom web pages with it. The major horrors are FP Themes and FP Server Extensions (webbot gibberish). MS doesn't like mixed development environments. Try to use Dreamweaver (or anything!) to open a page made in FP. It's a horrific heap of code spew.
I am ball-and-chained to FP only temporarily (I'm out of this job once school's out), but there is always a market for books to help the poor souls stuck in FrontPage (I almost said DLL) Hell.
One note about what I'm doing about the situation...
I'm trying to make a framework in ASP with templates to automate the navigation system based on the directory structure and files. Then, teachers can make their.htm pages in FP and have them #INCLUDEd (or something, I haven't worked out the details) and automagically appear in the navigation menus. I'm not far into it yet, so it may not be so simple. Any advice? Is there ASP code already out there to do this?
I would say that Darwinism itself is Racism's best friend. I submit the following exhibits for your cerebral consumption.
From The History of Creation: Or the Development of the Earth and its Inhabitants by the Action of Natural Causes by Ernst Haeckel, 1876.
Nothing, however, is perhaps more remarkable in this respect, than that some of the wildest tribes in southern Asia and Eastern Africa have no trace whatever of the first foundations of all human civilization, of family life, and marriage. They live together in herds, like apes, generally climbing on trees and eating fruits; they do not know of fire, and use stones and clubs as weapons, just like the higher apes....
At the lowest stage of human mental development are the Australians, some tribes of the Polynesians, and the Bushmen, Hottentots, and some of the Negro tribes.
From "Anthropological curiosities; the Pygmies of the World," Scientific American, 1907.
The personal appearance, characteristics, and traits of the Congo pygmies...[show that they are] small, apelike, elfish creatures, furtive and mischievous, they closely parallel the brownies and goblins of our fairy tales. They live in the dense tangled forests in absolute savagery, and while they exhibit many ape-like features in their bodies, they possess a certain alertness, which appears to make them more intelligent then other Negroes.
Even religionists have fallen prey to Darwinsim.
From Apostle of the Mormon council of 12, Mormon Doctrine, 1958.
We know the circumstances under which the posterity of Cain (and later of Ham) were cursed with what we call Negroid racial characteristics.
Nazis eagerly made use of the evolutionary concepts already entrenched in German academia. Note that the subtitle of Darwin's
The Origin of Species by means of natural selection was: The preservation of favoured races in the struggle for life. Evolutionary teachings were simply carried to their logical conclusion by the Nazis who tried to exterminate the "inferior" races like the Jews, Gypsies and Slavs, as well as the "unfit" (e.g. the handicapped). This is confirmed by the evolutionist Sir Arthur Keith, who wrote:
"The German Führer, as I have consistently maintained, is an evolutionist; he has consciously sought to make the practice of Germany conform to the theory of evolution."
Konrad Lorenz, one of the most eminent animal-behavior scientists then, and often credited as being the founder of his field, stated that:
"Just as in cancer the best treatment is to eradicate the parasitic growth as quickly as possible, the eugenic defense against the dysgenic social effects of afflicted subpopulations is of necessity limited to equally drastic measures... When these inferior elements are not effectively eliminated from a [healthy] population, then - just as when the cells of a malignant tumor are allowed to proliferate throughout the human body - they destroy the host body as well as themselves."
Lorenz's works were important in developing the Nazi program designed to eradicate the "parasitic growth" of inferior races. The government's programs to insure the "German Volk" maintained their superiority made racism almost unassailable. Although King claimed that "the holocaust... pretended to have a scientific genetic basis", the position of the government and university elite of the time was so entrenched that few contemporary scientists seriously questioned it. The anti-Semitic attitudes of the German people were only partly to blame in causing the holocaust - only when Darwinism was added to the preexisting attitudes did a lethal combination result.
More and more scientists find that the differences that set us apart are cultural, not racial. Some even say that the word "race" should be abandoned because it's meaningless.
In the field of genetics, researchers have concluded that the genetic differences between the so-called races account for only 0.012 percent of human biological variation.
The way I see it, we have a new culture war. It's a clash between American Liberalism and Darwinist Socialism. Darwinism means that we have differently evolved races, and by its nature, the races are unequal, i.e. it is scientific fact that a certain person can be objectively classified as superior or inferior to another person on the basis of his/her race. This flies in the face of civil rights and undermines a founding principle of the U.S.: we possess "inalienable rights endowed by our Creator." Liberals would have to embrace a Christian world view to defeat the notion of "races", and therefore, racial inequality, which Darwinism has helped to flourish. But embracing Christianity would destroy the now beloved tenet of Pluralism of Morality that has become a pillar of social liberalism, thanks to biblical apostasy and New Age.
As a Christian who does not believe in Darwinism or even "races" (in an evolutionary context), I find this whole topic somewhat amusing. Has Evolution stopped? LOL Have pigs stopped flying? Has it stopped snowing in hell?

Acts 17:26

I think Mr. Robertson should send an email to everyone whose information is being sent to Microsoft, warning them of the disclosure.
I'm on the list, and they did. From the e-mail:
Also, we feel obligated to disclose to you that we were compelled to disclose your email address to Microsoft during the discovery process as well as the content of many of your messages sent to us. We were not happy about doing this, but we had little choice. We have received assurances from Microsoft that they will not use or disclose your address for any purpose beyond this case.
While he's at it, he should also provide a link to a poll on his website, asking whether any of those people had been initially confused when researching the new OS.
Bad idea! Don't you remember how Microsoft engaged in blatant ballot stuffing for.NET on the ZDNet poll on web services? They'd just have all their employees give the "Palm Beach voter'sexcuse": "We thought we had signed up for the OS by Pat Buchanan.. er Bill Gates."
Errors always give away that an embedded system (with kiosks) is running Windows.
The fitness center I used to go to had a computerized system for its exercise machines. One day I saw DOS type networking errors scrolling endlessly.
I've seen ATMs here in South Carolina with Windows errors.
I've seen electronic road signs with embarrassing off-center Windows screens and error message boxes.
And we've all probably seen presentations on PowerPoint or Internet Explorer going down in flames when Windows starts cutting up. No doubt, it happens in classrooms, churches, businesses, and wherever Windows is found around the world every day.
LILO ruined my Windows partition too, but there's an easy fix! When LILO is installed, it makes a backup of whatever bytes it replaced to a file located in/boot/ .
Of course, this will only work if you can boot into Linux with your Linux floppy boot disk. (You did create one during Linux installation, didn't you? Use Mandrake 8 next time. It actually puts LILO on the floppy.) From the console, just type in a single line from the HowTo to restore the data that LILO had overwritten.
The problem now is that you have to use the floppy boot disk every time you want to boot into Linux. However, this isn't so bad considering you just salvaged your Windows system.
If all these deities are one and the same, it doesn't make sense that this one God would tell one group one thing and tell another group an opposing thing. The natures of these deities are very different.
I'm a Baptist too, and I know that in John 14:6, Jesus says, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
If you think Jesus was lying here, how can you trust Him with your salvation? Don't succumb to New Age thinking.
The real God does have many names: YAHVEH, ELOHIM, SHADDAI, ADONAI, I AM, FATHER, CREATOR, KING OF KINGS, LORD OF LORDS,...
But even a very brief study of what those other religions worship will reveal a vast difference. God is not a melting pot of philosophies. He has one personality and one mind having one Law which was fulfilled by His one Son for the one (entire) population of the earth.
If God has lied to one group of people, then He is not God. If all religions are true then none of them are true. To say that all paths are correct means that there are no paths. It's like going into a wilderness and saying that the entire forest is a path, and is the right path, no less.
Maybe the mozilla developers can implement something like this into their project.
There already is something like this in Mozilla, as well as IE and Netscape 4. It's called What's Related. It's a tab in My Sidebar in Mozilla and displays in the Explorer Bar in IE. The technology is provided by Alexa.
There are 2 differences between Related and Smart Tags for users and victims (i.e., site owners and developers).
The links are carted out of the Side Bar and seamlessly integrated into the content of the web page without the author's permission. The M$ links could destroy the artistic integrity of a site. I think Smart Tags would be tantamount to copyright infringement, because it is intentional and specific alteration of a website (not merely non-standards rendering) without permission. Sounds like INNOVATION in cracking. Now you can deface a website without touching the server. Couldn't you put a Smart Tags DLL in a trojan horse and put your own links in every page the user sees? Then change the links whenever you want by having the trojan horse download a new DLL.
Essentially, millions of site owners would unwittingly become affiliates of Microsoft in a one-way business relationship. There should be an opt-in policy, and site owners should expect to be paid for offering Microsoft the privilege (not a right) of placing its links on your site. Microsoft has no right to impose on others' online property. It is a shame that even non-profit organizations and personal sites would be subjected to profiteering run amuck. Microsoft must compensate other organizations for advertising its goods (or "bads":-) and services just like every other company has to do!
I do understand that 1) the source code is not changed and 2) the links look different from standard hyperlinks. As far as the common user's perception is concerned, these two facts are irrelevant.
CITATIONS
Two out of three are from non-creationist publications. I regret that these are a bit old, but observations do not become false with the passage of time.
snail statement
Keith and Anderson, "Radiocarbon Dating: Fictitious Results with Mollusk Shells," Science, Vol. 141, 1963, p. 634.
trees statement
Haskins, Caryl P., "Advances and Challenges in Science in 1970," American Scientist, Vol. 59, May-June 1971, p. 298.
lava flows statement
Lammerts, W.E., Why Not Creation?, Baker Book House, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 1973, p. 388.
That is unfortunate for evolutionists. Consider a couple of observations:
Living snails have been dated as 2,300 years old by the carbon-14 method.
Wood taken from growing trees has been dated by the carbon-14 method to be 10,000 years old.
...and as if C-14 data weren't damaging enough...
Hawaiian lava flows, which are known to be less than 200 years old, have been dated by the potassium-argon method at up to 3 billion years old.
Having said that, I don't think either side of the evolution debate can claim a victory here. As noted, "We should take this as a warning that climate change may affect the carbon cycle in previously unexpected way." In other words, the humanist jury is still out.
As a final note, I can only attribute this to the ills of capitalism that we should all understand by now.
Oh, we Americans live in such burdensome wretchedness! We are downtrodden and persecuted by the ills of capitalism! To make matters worse, some stuttering babboon with his wily strategery stole the election, and now we drink poisoned water and have no electricity! *sobs* At least we can import water from Mexico. oh wait..
Remind yourself that the capitalists now have control of the schools, and that they are training you to be net slaves.
Really? Why do the capitalists insist that college students who are studying to be scientists or engineers waste two of their four years taking liberal arts courses? 99% of what I know about the net I learned on my own. Most degrees are worthless because they're full of liberal arts fluff and new age business drivel. Good for leftist evangelists, bad for capitalists.
It is precisely anti-capitalists who control and teach at the schools, which (ahem) are owned by the government, not capitalists. In fact, most colleges and universities are bastions of socialism, anti-Americanism (strange isn't it?), eco-extremism, and fascist political correctness.
OK, it's not that bad at all colleges, but this is all beside the point. Capitalism is good because it allows you to choose where you want to work. If you think the bad outweighs the good, then I'm sure Comrade Castro will let you join little Elian in the sugar cane fields of Cuba with the other government slaves. Perhaps you can unionize them and petition Castro for ergonomically-correct sickles and machetes. And paid overtime. oh wait..
For all the bashing of capitalism, let's not forget that the opposite side of the coin is much, much worse.
It's just mind-boggling to see how ungrateful U.S. citizens are for the unprecedented opportunities and comforts we have, which were not afforded to the greatest rulers and most advanced civilizations of times gone by and most still today.
Hi linuxguy. Let me take your questions in reverse.
And while we are at it, what proof do you have that there is a God?
Have you looked for proof? It's right here. ReadMore
And what proof do you have that Bible is God's word?
I believe it is because it says so throughout. Actually, the real question is "How do we know the Bible is true?" We have over 20,000 copies of New Testament manuscripts alone which serve to corroborate the recorded historical events. This is not to mention secular ancient manuscripts, such as Tacitus and Josephus. Dr. Nelson Glueck, a Palestinian archeologist, said in his publication Rivers in the Desert, "As a matter of fact, however, it may be stated categorically that no archeological discovery has every controverted a Biblical reference. Scores of archeological findings have been made which confirm in clear outline or in exact detail historical statements in the Bible." Hundreds of prophecies have been fulfilled over the centuries exactly as they were foretold in Biblical manuscripts. Several prophecies are unfolding before our eyes today!
God is a scientist, not a magician. Science has confirmed the Bible time and time again. It is only (humanist) scientists who disagree with the Bible; real science has not and does not contradict the Bible.
Who the hell told you that those people are my neighbours' wives?
A more relevant scripture for ethics major to have quoted is Matthew 5:27-28, where Jesus says,
"You have heard that it was said, `Do not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
Also pertinent is 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8:
It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.
Rape is at an epidemic scale, in fact my mom has been a leader in speaking out against such things.
I believe that changing people's hearts is the key to preventing rape (and every other human problem). Here is some material your mom may want to use when she speaks.

Why are you upset that TV programming might become less depraved? This would benefit both children and adults. The TV-MA (Mature Audience) rating is ironic; a truly mature viewer would be responsible enough not to watch it. It is precisely immature viewers who want to watch TV-MA programs. In reality, TV-MA should be called TV-WA (Wicked Audience).
I use the V-Chip on my TV to block TV-MA programs from myself. Garbage in, garbage out, right? No evil enters the mind, no evil is acted out. Why is it so important to preserve degrading content in our homes? Wickedness is the root cause of all poverty and misery. If the worst of it disappears from the "air waves" (or coax cables), then good riddance.
What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?
Choose now...
Therefore, if God wanted to he could end all misery, evil, and suffering at the snap of His fingers (so to speak), but chooses not to because of His plan.
This is exactly right. God gives us freedom to make our own decisions - freedom to sin or to love - freedom to choose Heaven or to choose Hell.
You must understand God's priorities. Our eternal life (or death) is far more important than anything that happens to us on Earth. Pain and suffering is a blessing because it draws us closer to God. When we cannot rely on our own strength, abilities, money, and resources, we are compelled to rely on God. Otherwise, we would be self-centered, conceited, spoiled brats destined for Hell.
Do you really want to understand the mysteries of God? Lee Strobel, a former atheist who holds a Master's degree from Yale Law School, has written an insightful book called The Case for Faith. This book is for real truth-seekers, and it's only $6 US. In it, Strobel interviews some of the greatest philosophers of our time. They address common objections to Christian faith, such as:
Since evil and suffering exist, a loving God cannot.
Since miracles contradict science, they cannot be true.
Evolution explains science, so God isn't needed.
A loving God would never torture people in Hell.
Church history is littered with oppression and violence.
Read The Case for Faith slowly -- with an open mind and a teachable heart. Then, you will be on your way to knowing God.
What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?
Choose now...
Oh, I see. Any news organization that isn't an arm of the Democratic Party (i.e. is not CNN, ABC, NBC, etc.) should be summarily dismissed as wacky kooks making wily allegations of so-called news.

If God has lied to one group of people, then He is not God. If all religions are true then none of them are true. To say that all paths are correct means that there are no paths. It's like going into a wilderness and saying that the entire forest is a path, and is the right path, no less.

Clippy: "It looks like you're writing a letter! Would you like some help with this?"
Office XP
Smart Tag: "It looks like you're writing a letter!

IE 6
Smart Tag: "It looks like you're on an unapproved, non-Microsoft web site! Now redirecting to MSN..."
- The links are carted out of the Side Bar and seamlessly integrated into the content of the web page without the author's permission.
- Essentially, millions of site owners would unwittingly become affiliates of Microsoft in a one-way business relationship. Microsoft must compensate other organizations for advertising its goods (or "bads"
:-) and services just like every other company has to do!
I do understand that 1) the source code is not changed and 2) the links look different from standard hyperlinks. As far as the common user's perception is concerned, these two facts are irrelevant.Smart Tags should be called AutoDeface.
err I mean smart t4gs shOul;d be calle d autodeFac3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
Two out of three are from non-creationist publications. I regret that these are a bit old, but observations do not become false with the passage of time.

Having said that, I don't think either side of the evolution debate can claim a victory here. As noted, "We should take this as a warning that climate change may affect the carbon cycle in previously unexpected way." In other words, the humanist jury is still out.
I wonder if people will use DTDs to validate their schemas. :-)
have some flash
Come and see what I found.
And while we are at it, what proof do you have that there is a God?
Have you looked for proof? It's right here. Read More
And what proof do you have that Bible is God's word?
A more relevant scripture for ethics major to have quoted is Matthew 5:27-28, where Jesus says,
Also pertinent is 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8: Huh?I believe that changing people's hearts is the key to preventing rape (and every other human problem). Here is some material your mom may want to use when she speaks.

Based on 1 Corinthians 13What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?
Choose now...
THINK
