As far as I remember, windows doesn't have fork() (probably Vista does), and I don't know how it manages memory between forked processes. Of course this is a comparison with IE on windows, but since google is obviously headed towards running chrome on some kind of "dumb terminal" type machine, and all the apps on top of it, is the windows port really that relevant?
From reading that description, the patent seems to be about adding non-file object to the filesystem view, like the "my computer" icon, or when you go into a.zip file and get to explore it like it was a directory. Did I miss something?
If I remember correctly, this is the one where you write java and then it gets compiled into the javascript that runs in the browser, right? I'll admit that I'm biased against java, but still, even is this was my favourite language, the idea of generating javascript offline and then running it on the browser just sounds too complicated. I'd never feel like I could trust the generator.
I'm not saying it'll never work, just that I think this is why nobody is rushing to adopt it (I do think it's completely unnecesary, and it'd be kinda sad if this was what needed to be done to have a usable ajax framework; but that's just my uninformed opinion)
If this was a runtime thing, where you're running a virtual machine for some other language on top of javascript, I'd try it just because it sounds cool tho.
I bet the telecom companies did something similar to this guy. "Hey, we donated millions to Obama's campaign, and now he's saying he won't support the bill? we want it back!"
I guess they didn't get forwarded to a voice mail.
can you imagine the response to his participating in discussion threads on kernel.org?
you think that the argument "you're wrong and I'm right because you're in jail and I'm not" would fly on the kernel mailing list? I'd like to think not (I'd be curious to find out tho).
Incidentally, about 90% of the hits on the root nameservers are NX, since all of the correct request get cached downstream, but nobody can cache an NX response, so they keep coming back.
If they don't work to stop street crimes, do they also not work to spy on regular people? Not that having a camera on you is not creepy enough, but at least know that they're probably not doing a good job in spying on you and controlling your mind either!
Because the library of congress appeared magically one day, without anyone spending any time to create it? I'm not saying it's the exact same unit, but if you're measuring "information/time", why not use the unit for "information" that you already have?
From looking at the sites, "Partido Colorado" (red party) is the ruling party, and the opposers registered "partidocolorado.org", and put some parody site there. The hijacked DNS redirects to a site that responds to "partidocolorado.org.py", which seems to be the official party site (you can tell because of the heaps of steaming bullshit they have in there). It's actually pretty confusing if you're not familiar with their politics (at first I thought this "red party" was the opposition, so I was confused about the other "red party" site).
Anyway, I assume they're claiming that "partidocolorado.org" is too similar to "partidocolorado.org.py" and it's taking advantage of their name (which is probably what they were trying to do, otherwise they would have gone with "red party sucks.com" or something.. most people get confused with the.orgs and.pys).
Of course, I doubt the paraguayan government has any jurisdiction over the root DNS, and I'd be surprised if they had a law that proposes dns hijacking as a solution to a conflict like this.
It's all encrypted, and since it's a LAN, it'll be fast. It also has the redundancy (and your end-users won't even know what's on their computer)
Plus, it'll be a great example of a "legitimate use" for it (unless you're just looking for a place to store your child porn). Kinda overkill tho, I'm sure there are other distribute filesystems that make better use of the resources.
Well, they've managed to use inches, feet and pounds for a while now, without any (major) accidents, I don't see how a 3.2 pi would make much of a difference.
The stars are _on_ the screen, so no matter what system they use to work the pointer (sensor bar works great in my opinion), you'll have to point to the screen to collect them.
The _real_ improvement would be the ability to use it as a light saber. Right now, games just recognize 2 or 3 movements (slash, stab, etc), and play a fixed animation, which is bullshit. That is what they need to improve (and they probably will, I know that sony and nintendo are pretty desperate for someone who can program a lightsaber-like experience with their controllers).
This might be fine for a hobbyist
The guy is building a computer to watch tv.

The should just sell the fucking signs at the fucking gift shop then.

They're actually getting it FROM AN IRAQUI FRIEND who bought the DVDs, and then they became in contact with this FRIEND? this is what we're saying?

why would you buy shares of a newspaper anyway? never heard of the internet?

What happened to "the Library of Congress"? now we have two different standards for the measurement of information for bullshit statistics?
How many Wikipedias in a Library of Congress?
We all knew that if anyone was going to bring the BSOD to linux, it was going to be Red Hat.
now I'm supposed to know if the person who programmed some game is black or white? I honestly don't care, and I prefer to keep not caring.
:p
I wouldn't mind having more women around the office tho

wasn't there a guy right before new year who was able to sign his own code? (something about transfering all the ram through the controller ports).
Why hasn't there been any news on that?
the wii has fun games

yeah, they should have told us that they were going to start covering sports
Easy, just imagine the tiger is a perfect sphere with no friction...
