  1. Re:CS in Translation on English Language And Its Effect On Programming? · · Score: 1
    On some high schools and universities over here (Buenos Aires, we speak spanish), they start teaching with a "Pseudo Pascal", wich is basically a pascal translated to spanish. something like this:

    si a = b entonces
    comienzo
    escribir('Hola Mundo');
    fin;

    It wasn't any different to normal pascal, just the keywords.

    Big mistake, because they don't have a compiler for this thing (that would be _very cool_ to teach to younger kids), so you spend 4 months writing this useless code on a piece of paper.

    Everyone sounds like they feel "threaten" as an American by japanese animation. It's not like you'll be betraying your country because you watch anime. As someone says on a previous post, anime is a 'medium', just like western 'movies', or 'television'.

    The only difference with television is that it's all animation, so women have bigger breasts, and it can hadle more adult topics, without being some very werid thing like spawn, that has to be hidden from children. If you search, you'll find a lot of crap and a lot of really deep things on anime. (I like anime better :P)

    I drop the proyects for a number of reasons (I'd have to get everyone to download the program, it wouldn't work with some configurations, I had to mantain the program (I'm not a very good C programmer), etc). It might still be up on freenic.com.ar (spanish). It was a good alternative to the other existing sites (I found at least 5 of them) because this works with the normal DNS system, and not all requests go to my DNS servers..

    It was free, didn't need any DNS configuration.. I may bring it back up again on the future..

But, who controls evolution? There is not a "god" that controls evoluon.. Evolution results from the convination of a lot of factors. So, if we start srewing with ourserlves, thats another factor, a new, and very interesting factor, not seen on other species before.

    While we're on the subject of comedy, perhaps the funniest anime series I've seen is Slayers.

    If I had to make a list of funniest "crazy comedies", in a scale of "normal to totaly werid and bizarre", I'd say:

    Slayers
    Dragon Half (the manga specially)
    Dr. Slump (quite old, the same guy who wrote Dragon Ball; he can be _very_ funny)
    Ping Pong Club (_totaly_ werid. And it's also the anime with the most "chinese looking" characters I've ever seen. they have small eyes and everything).

    Grave of the Fireflies (very dramatic movie, about 2 kids in te middle of world war 2)
