    ...Of jobs of anykind in my neck of the woods regardless of the type, exceptions are always made for health care professionals, always need more of them everywhere.
    Of course my neck of the woods is Nebraska USA that should explain alot, I can speak of only what I have seen and know.

    what do you think creates heat for all the vehicles on the road?

    sure they are working on pumping up the batteries for cars so they may travel longer distances but what about when winter comes along and people start firing up those dangerous electric heaters?

    It's just a thought but I'd rather have my heat pump under the hood where it belongs and not next to my babies jacket or a dust bunny, let's face it, how many people keep their cars impecably clean?

    I agree with Foogle and his comments in "blah blah" in almost all aspects.

    In my opinion I would definitly steer clear of the big progects like KDE and such.
    something that is geared towards say one version in the *nix world.

    someone small like the guy making doomling (DOOM / Wolfenstain for the palm pilot) would be a good idea, something that thge Investor likes is above all
    I could rant on and on for days why someone should get it and why someone should not, opinions are like a$$holes and everyone thinks everyone else's smells worse than their own.

    I do not think you are going to be finding any "community wide" agreement on how you should spend your money.

    bottom line is, it is your money, do with it what you will. for a cause you beleive in. for a bit of code you admire.

    well ok

    if I write a program in vis basic (prolly a horrid example but I am a programmer in training) and gave it away for free.. I would also have to distribute say vbrun5.dll with it or the program is worthless...

    though I am not charging for vbrun.dll I do not think I would be infringing on any copyright's

    If however I was selling the program, and distributing vbrun.dll along with it i would think that is closer to copyright infringment.

    it may ease your mind to know that I have abso-friggin-lutely no idea what delphi is.

    but if something is free I dont see how it can be copyright infringed.. especially if i am not making a profit.

    please sir, show me the light so that I may correct the error of my ways

    I do not pay for any software.
    whether or not I am *suppose* to or not.

    GPL is not synonymous with crappy code

    winblows blows goats and It is not GPL
    there is more code out there you pay for that sucks

    granted there is also good software that is payware

    and lots of good stuff that is freeware

    and bad stuff that is freeware.

    works both ways.

    you think windows is at a reasonable price? (or any microsoft product for that matter?) they may make alot in ales of the initial product, but LOTS of people make millions in tech support for there crappy code.

    stop being biased and open your mind.
    on second thought keep it closed your evil thoughts might be contagious.

    if it is open source..
    I don't think a person could really be forced to pay for it.. like linux, i can download it or pay for it...
    and if I write a program I am not copywriting a a command or a tool... I am copywriting a interpretation.. same information displayed differently..
    which is what allows many books to be written on one topic, same info presented differently.

    am i right or am I wrong?

    i did not research for this opinion I pulled it out of my head. (or arse[depends on view you hold])

    personally I would love to see windows as a whole be open source ;)

    As per a program being open sourced for the windows environment I am sure it would help begin the process towards it becomming more common, as more examples of programs becomming open sourced more and more will tend to follow that path (if my fore sight is working correctly this morning)

    Did not Netscape become open sourced?
    as well as Doom?
    or was that Quake 1?

    Every program I write for windows is open source.

    IMHO close source software is for greedy igmo's and if more demand is made for it I am sure it will be a big step in a good direction for that hacker in all of us who wants to learn things the easy way and not have to reverse engineer something...

    Don't you all think that?

    is not linux usability directly proportional to how intelligent you are versus how long you have been using winblows?

    if you have been using linux for a long time it doesnt really matter what version you are using or how X windows is config'd.

    if ms-dos had flopped alot of things in regards to OS's would be different. Linux and/or *nix

    but if *nix was predominant first everyone would be using it and would be discussing the relearning of OS's to use winblows because the NSA had corrupted *nix's to be able to spy on the masses.

    *up long time thought processes fading please dont moderate me down to much im making a valid attempt at a rational and intelligent thought*

    guess its a woulda coulda shoulda

    if the masses were made to use a *nix they'd do what it takes to work the system
    especially when the net boom came along
    or maybe it would have kept is simple less clogged and more closer to what us geeks wanted originally .

    alot of large libraries want a card
    i.e. palmdale california
    where as in my current town of residence De Witt Nebraksa (population 600 +/- [mostly minus] counting livestock) the library has very new machines, running winNT workstation 4.0, you do not need a library card and they are standard machines in which if you "know" what your doing you can plug in extra external devices, and since the librarian is 80 years old, totally pc illiterate I have taken the liberty of teaching her that certain questionable things are ok.

    some say you must catch them when they are young, in some cases it is when they are old. And it helps that the 80 yr old lady works by herself.

    not very common, you need a large chain like Flying J or TA (truckstops of america) and even then you are not garunteed to have a booth.

    and it has disadvantages.
    $1 = 5 minutes
    he wont be able to upload his pictures
    it has a chicklet type keyboard, the key repeat speed sucks and the pointing device is less than satisfactory.

    i travel alot, i prefer truck stops to hang out in and my mother and father are OTR (over the road) drivers.

    I just got back from a two week journey to the los angeles area. I started from southeast Nebraska/northeast Kansas area. I brought along with me a palm 3e with a palm modem. when we stopped to eat i sat in the professional driver section. (As long as you are not wearing a suit or look like a schmuck no one will question you) I used a calling card and plugged into the standard telephones at the booths and connected to my ISP in Nebraska Pre-paid calling cards are cheap, you can usually find very nice rates (3.1 cents a minute) if you buy a $20 card that = lotsa time and no they dont even question you if you unhook the phones from the line. and you are stopping to eat anyway you might as well use the time wisely and check your email at the same time hope this helps
