This may be slightly OT, but please don't mod it as such. I use FoxIt and I have a problem. Whenever I open the solutions file for a textbook I use for school, the text is barely readable. Yet in Adobe Reader, it's fine.
Any ideas? I like FoxIt, but I can't use it! Note: The zoom is set to the same on both, zooming on FoxIt doesn't help the issue. Also sorry the screenshot is so small, I uploaded a larger one but BayImg didn't like it for some reason.
Why? His point is, he shouldn't HAVE to disable and enable content as he surfs so that it's not ridiculous or annoying. Any website which plays music doesn't deserve your custom.
It's like, say, a website doesn't have a navigation bar, but all the users say you just need to use a Greasemonkey script. They should be making it right, not the other way around.
I was assuming (didnt RTFA) applications would be accepted or denied by the users if no hash existed, so this wouldn't be a problem. Then again, you combat that theory to. The thing is, application writers are somewhat at the mercy of antivirus companies. The other day my fresh installation of Ares got detected as a virus and removed by AVG. Lord knows why, I assume it's still clean like it was when I used to use it..
I remember reading on Slashdot in the past that when Anti-Vir was first around (I think the old DOS Program Norton Navigator was refererenced), we started with a White List. The same White List idea outlined here. Then for whatever stupid reason we moved to a blacklist. There's only a finite number of good programs, whereas bad ones spring up every 5 minutes.
Pfft, second tier. I'd take my Creative Zen Vision M [30 gb] over any iPod, any day.
I think the reason is because if you're an iTunes fan, it's most likely because you have to be (you own an iPod), or you're an Apple fanboy (not meant to be offensive, but in this case you'd own an iPod anyway). I've never seen AAC files used anywhere, and I don't know why I'd ever rip into one.
I'm not sure why you used Heroes, as it's a bad example--being not only available for free over broadcast, but even officially available online.
Not anymore - "Season One is no longer available online, but you can buy the DVD on August 28.
But stay tuned... Season Two launches in September, on air and online!"
its sad to hear last.fm can't recommend you anything.. i have quite obscure & varied music tastes though so i find it better.
Well, I tell a lie. The few times I did use their radio service I heard songs I liked that I now listen to, but I don't make a happy of it. I usually download tracks my friends/neighbours are listening if they sound interesting
thats the first time i've heard of last.fm being used as a dating service... but well.. why not?! i'm glad its useful for somehting to you even if its not recommending music...
(i wish my last.fm would recommend women to me!!)
Haha:P. I was going through my neighbours and thought 'Hmm, she looks cute', shouted her, then met a few weeks later. I mean, why not, we have 'Super Compatability' after all;)
I also use last.fm, but I still think Pandora is much better. Sure, last.fm will introduce me to similiar bands, but sometimes I find specific tracks from a band that aren't really like the rest of their music. Then, I enter that specific track, and get to hear more like it. Last.fm hasn't 'recommended' me anything I like, but my neighbours have (infact I ended up meeting one of my neighbours and now we've been dating for 5 months:P. Thank you last.fm!)
dude, 3 miles down a main thoroughfare? Why not just walk it? work off some of the booze calories as well. Though I guess if you didn't have sidewalks...
After a long, late night of drinking you don't always feel motivated to spend almost an hour walking. It's much nicer to be able to just get dropped home and curl up in bed.
do the trip as quickly as possible, and pick up the next person in the shortest amount of time.
Yep, then you get the Speed Bonus. Just doesn't damage your taxi too bad or no one will want to get in it! Also remember to run them over if you reach the timelimit and they don't pay their fare.
Keep in mind that (according to a police-friend), they're no longer accurate above about 0.20. After a heavy night of drinking pretty much everyone that uses mine blows 0.40 (I've seen a website refer to this as "coma/death" before, but I'd love to be corrected.)
Actually I believe the aussie government is already well on the case.
Correct, as a resident Aussie this is already the case over here too. Hooray for not being able to sing Happy Birthday to you, happy birthda... be right back, someones at the door.
You'll spend more than $280 for your connection over a relatively short period of time.
Correct, but this is expense is there with your new computer too. Old recycled hardware + $280 of accumulated connection fees = $280 $280 PC + $280 of accumulated connection fees = $560 (for example)
I don't care who you are, $280 is hardly "made of money" status.
$280 for one. Some (most?) families have more than one internet-enabled PC in their home. Why? Because they provide content on demand. The same way people have more than one TV in the house. Also, who's the say the current Firefox will even run that well on your hypothetical $280 machine? I use it on an AMD 2200+ with 768 MB of RAM (my primary PC) and it can be incredibly sluggish, and typically can only be open for less than 6 hours before I find it chewing through everything.
When the local Wal-Mart is selling new PCs for $280, who cares about old machines?
Yep, let's all rush out and spend $280 to have the ability to surf the internet. Yeah, I don't think so. Plenty of people care. My siblings use older machines (we're talking 500 MHz here) to browse the web, with Firefox, and it's sluggish. Not everybody is made of money, old machines are great for the "email + quick surfing" type of people.
I think this comment is just silly. What evidence is there to support this? I mean, Firefox isn't that big as it is. Plus, does hard drive space even matter anymore? The smallest hard drive you can find if you stolled into a best buy is like a 160 GB so what's the point.
It's not about the size of the installation, it's about memory and CPU usage. Firefox is ridiculous in both of these categories. Good luck running it on old (heck, even old-ish) hardware.
This sounds like a new needed firefox plug in. Content-re-aggregator.
There already is an extenstion that does everything you say (except make a profit). I'm not sure what it's called, but it's been mentioned here before (I don't use it)
By the way YouTube user jnye078 rocks in explaining that song. And the guy whose videos we're talking about are still on YouTube but might not be in a while. He very clearly showed me how to play a Counting Crows song, Mr. Jones
Exactly the same song I used his videos for (Mr Jones - great song). I only discovered them just over a week ago and thought Whoa, these are great. Nothing else has compelled me to actually try and learn the guitar I bought just over a year ago;). I haven't had a chance to actually learn it, but I figure I will within a couple of weeks.
By the way, check out the Acoustic tabs. The rest of the song is the same (AFAIK?), but it gives you a cool little intro to play around with as a lead in to the song (sounds pretty cool I reckon, and it has a weird rhythm to it so make sure you listen to the track (Mr Jones Live, from Live on a Wire) before you try to play it). BTW, I find it easy to use first finger on first fret of second string (counting from bottom), and pinky on third fret of fourth string (^^). You don't need to move your hands at all, just lift off to play the strings open at some points.
Been meaning to grab a copy of the worried prairie dog video and such. How might I do that?:-)
This isn't Offtopic! I use the Firefox extension "VideoDownloader", then a Flash player called "FLV Player" (or something like that). It's pretty easy, just rename the file after it's finished downloading (It'll be called like get_video, just call it what you like and chuck ".flv" on the end).
Ofcourse, this is on Windows. If you're on Linux (or Mac, etc.), it might be slightly different, that extension should probably work though.
I'm replying here so this gets seen (sorry, I know I'm not meant to do it). The songs didn't get removed, Justin (the owner of JustinGuitar) just moved them to his new account, http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=JustinSanderco eSongs, incase he was violating the YouTube rules and would have his videos removed. As far as I can tell, they're all still there. That being said, I could be wrong, and I'm downloading the ones I wanted to learn now just in case:)

Sorry for OT, but replying to your sig - What programming language?
Lucky the Seagate consumer drives have a five-year warranty ;)
