    If you prevent public displays of it, the distribution of hate speech, and the dissemination of such practices, you prevent societies' young from learning and eventually deifying that type of behavior.

    Except racism will still be learned in the home and bitterness and contempt for a government that suppresses public debate (no matter how stupid the issue)
    'hate crimes' are just a form of reverse racism that provides a knee jerk power swing to those who were oppressed. the oppressed become the oppressors and the oppressors become the oppressed.
    a truly open minded person wouldn't give a shit where you came from or what you thought and certainly doesn't need the government to criminalise opinions to back up their point of view

    I don't know how this got modded insightful.
    Some people have metabolic problems to blame for their size and no matter how little they eat and how much they exercise they don't shed the kilos.
    not to mention that there are 3 seperate body types and if you are of the larger persuasion naturally there isn't any way you are getting tiny enough to fit into a small shirt.
    add to that that the BMI is absolute bunkum because it doesn't take into account muscle mass and this story turns to complete bullshit.

    I turned a mates laptop with broken screen into a PC for my girlfriend. don't close the lid, rip it off. this way you don't need to bother plugging in a keyboard or mouse. if you have wireless then just run the antenna wires up the side of the monitor you will be using and sticky tape them on. the advantage here over a traditional PC is that you have a built in UPS :)

    it's even easier than that...
    there are graphical interfaces to apt that allow the user to search for "word processor" "graphical editor" "email client" and click what they want, then hit the install button.
    the command line isn't required AT ALL for basic linux users
    (unless, like everyone has at some stage, they are having trouble with alsa... *whistles* - if you didn't hear that, better check your alsa.conf)

    Excuse me? When is a penalty for performing an illegal act supposed to be "fair"? First, charging the same price as a legitimate download definitely isn't fair, and actually is an INCENTIVE to COMMIT COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.

    If you are fairly reliant on Macros in your Excel spreadsheets you may run into a brick wall. I had to install Excel using WINE in order to actually use some of my old spreadsheets.
