I started work as desktop support/remote support/all-around-"my computer is brokeee, fix it naooooo"-guy at a small-mid-sized company (200 seats) a few months ago...since we only have 3 guys in our IT department we pretty much have to cover everything. My question to you is this, why is ALL financial software antiquated and disgusting! Bahhhhh hum(bugs, bugs everywhere!)
Is it constitutional for the EPA, a government-funded agency, to buy a civilian town? I really don't know, does anyone else see this as crossing some sort of line?
One could argue that the best thing that could happen to windows is to be replaced with Ubuntu.
Not that I completely agree with that reasoning. Driving the computer illiterate masses into Linux just causes headache for the Linux savvy that have to spend their days explaining to people where the Start menu is in Linux.
So what you're saying is... that you wanna keep Linux, "for us cool kids" haha
I don't think so , they are two different things, Miro is good at web Video and video Podcasts and Managing your video library ,
on the other hand VLC can Play DVDs , [All Kinds Of] Web Streams , Trancode Your Media , and tons of other stuff....I don't see any reason why you couldn't use both
That is a good point , In 5 years I guess 64 bit hardware will be pretty ubiquitous I still don't think MOST consumers will benefit... but more and more people are doing things such as Video Rendering/encoding and especially Gaming... Maybe the 64 bits will be put to more use than I though
The obvious move is open source... closed source has a place... but not as much as it used to... companies are starting to trust open source a little more... and the general acceptance of open source to general consumers is higher than ever before...

You invented V.A.T.S....seems like someone needs to make a call to Bethesda
It is what it is, there is no "label".
People have shoved labels on it since the beginning and it just exists.
well one thing is for sure, it's not going away anytime soon
I think a lot of linux fans don't mind it being an "indie os" y'know?

Although you can now install Ubuntu inside Windows with Portable Ubuntu,
or along side Windows with WUBI, it is not technically a Windows application.
Due to the fact that they are only dealing with native windows applications
is the simple reason why Ubuntu was not feature on the list.
**Unrelated Sidenote:This comment written on Ubuntu**
Not to discount their achievement...
and I do understand that this is a really
great stride in technology here.
However, is this not the equivalent of,
"New NASA probe declares Earth's sun HOT"
I am not trying to be a smartass here.
However, if the technology simply determines of the planet COULD support life, then assumes there IS life, that wouldn't be a very big stride...
Just another comment from the Pundit Panel over here.

I agree wholeheartedly EdIII , that is one of the most concise posts summarizing the truth about this I've heard , good job!
I have been watching jotspot for a while , I'm glad that google is finally doing something with it
Its not about the operating system ... ...
its about the price
how how much did you pay for your laptop ?

- Why would Microsoft dump its largest market ?
- Why do consumers need 64 bit by the next version of windows if they don't need it today
- Why would Microsoft assume the ubiquity of 64 bit cpu's
... there doesn't seem to be demand for them today ... why in
This entire concept seems absurd
