  1. native code compilers? on Java Success Stories · · Score: 1

Didn't microsoft and symantec each create one for win32? I heard that there is going to be a gnu one in the future. Java would gain more respect if the JVM would give the user the option to compile to native code so it runs almost like a native app the next go around

Where is the gnome office suite supposed to counter KOffice? Where are the alpha source code releases for GNOME 2.0? Where is the developer support outside the OSS community? KDE has won this battle hands down. Frankly I fail to see what it is innovative about GNOME. It isn't nearly as aggressive as KDE

What did they hope to prove by pitting the 2.0 kernel against NT and Solaris rather than the 2.2 kernel? Why don't they pit NT 3.5x against 2.0 and see which comes out on top. I think 2.4 will do some real damage though. Hmmm it would be easy to see BeOS go against NT..... no competition there as a workstation OS goes.

I can't speak for everyone, but I wouldn't mind replacing income tax with a national sales tax. Here in VA we pay only 4.5% sales tax compared to states like CA which pay around 7% I believe.

Microsoft and Corel sue because they can't make a buck since Abi is free?

Maybe when we make australia even more of an island in terms of communication their government will finally get the picture.

I am using iCab right now on my powerbook and it truly is a joy to use as web browsers go. It is even more light weight than opera and it has a really nice gui. I also like how it desplays sites even better than ie and nc at times. Once it supports JavaScript (already supports Java cuz Mac browsers can use apple's runtime instead of having to use their own) it will definitely become the main browser among Mac users. As for Linux, opera will do very nicely.
