chrome 0.2.149.30: ~234ms
opera 9.61: ~203ms
internet explorer 7: ~2328ms
safari 3.1.2: ~203ms
These were all done on the same computer.. this is why we have competition kids..
Where did you find your engineers? Triton Community College doesn't count... first of all a computer is a tool, if you need to add a radio to your computer then yes maybe they will hand you back the radio built in with the written software for it so you can enjoy 101.1fm in the morning. As long as there are computers and a future, there will be a need for computer scientists. If computers go away, there will be a need to program quantum computers. It will be just like the old days when somebody needed to do low level programming for computers and it will happen again. For the writer of this article, did he even think of how much computing was actually involved in displaying and writing his article? Monitor drivers, assembly, mouse drivers, keyboard drivers, c++, network drivers, web server and lots more. I bet he couldn't write a mouse driver if his life depended on it. I don't like these kind of people that resort to the internet to say something controversial, but then again if he said it in a dorm full of CS students, he might lose his virginity B-)
here's why: if i buy expensive hardware for vista, i want to get the most out of my system, i will not have my machine slowed down by encryption and explorer.exe. the only reason why i think anyone would get it would be for the game compatibility. as for me i don't do much gaming and it will take something really special in vista for me to upgrade. as for now i have ubuntu on one hd and winxp on my main hd. and it looks like i will be moving to linux in a bit.
I read the #1 reason and just stopped reading the rest!! How can you be credible if your first statement is the theme is too bulky! it has less buttons then previous versions of ff and is smaller. If you think that including the address bar is "too bulky" then switch to lynx. Thats the only browser that has less buttons then Firefox!!
Join a project that seems like a challenging topic. You will learn so much more... sourforge.net has tons to join. I thought I knew alot about programming but its different to actually be part of a project which you are unfamiliar with. Try to find a project written with a diff language, you'll learn more.
Just to bring some "nostalgia" back, do you remember your high school years reading Shakespeare's books, they obviously forgot because I just had Shakespeare and believe me, I would never play something that involved Shakespeare.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a Windows fan but I would argue to Microsoft that they should seriously take viruses and security into strong consideration, you can't really blame Apple for this because they don't have viruses hence they don't have anti-viruses, it's just ironic.
